superA 289
I'm picking up an SKS tomorrow that still has the bayo attached. I have shot an SKS before but never handled one with a bayo on it. Any plus or minus as far as keeping it on. Again, if I decide to take it off I will throw it at a stranger but please don't let that influence any input. Thanks much. I have to admit I'm a wee bit giddy about picking it up. I've never owned one before.

Yes sir it's a Norinco, Blade OK but spike bad!, that was probably their actual terminology when discussing the safety of a firearm. CTM So it may actually be illegal? Nailbomb 10,221
whats wrong with the spike? i like mine... I never dived too far into the legalities of SKS's, but i figured i didn't have to worry about the bayonette due to the norinco being a '64...
vbrtrmn 167
Take it off and throw it in a drawer, if you decide to sell it later, it is better to have it for resale price. The screw on them is usually pretty tight, just use caution when taking it off, because it is spring loaded; last time I took one off, I placed the weapon on the carpet and kneeled on the blade, then unscrewed it. No idea about rules per spike vs blade.
Juggernaut 11,054
Best info I could dig up on the Norinco spike... http://www.akfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36361 http://www.victorinc.com/SKS-FAQ.html#_Toc167103936
saigaboy 0
The Survivor's SKS Board is one of the best resources out there for SKS fans. They had addressed this issue before. Check out this link. http://www.sksboards.com/smf/index.php?topic=37246.
superA 289
Turns out it's a spike and I'll be keeping it. I like the way it looks. Seems random strangers are safe today. Thinks for the input guys.

superA 289
Very nice. I learned that it's made in 1979. That was probably the best year ever....as far as humanity is concerned.
