devildogdakota 804
I got the Vortex Strikefire on one of mine, and I couldn't be happier with it. I was a little sceptical at first, paying for an optic made in China, but this baby is well made, shock resistant, and holds zero perfectly. The only minute thing I don't care for on it, are the scope covers. Their a little bit of a PITA to close. A small pittance for a damn fine scope. I was impressed by the cheaper Barskas as well. Got one on my tactical shotgun, and one on my .40 carbine. Held up well on both so far.
Chadwell 0
do you like/do you use the 2x magnifier?

Chadwell 0
this what would it's advantage be as opposed to the others and/or opposed to other small "micro" sights like the burris ones?
VladTepes 160
this what would it's advantage be as opposed to the others and/or opposed to other small "micro" sights like the burris ones? you can use the extra $100 you have left and get the Ultimak gas tube and co-witness.... Chadwell 0
i was planning on mounting it on with the side mount above the dust cover, is it still compatible?
devildogdakota 804
do you like/do you use the 2x magnifier? Funny you should mention that. I forgot that I even had the sucker! (lol!) Now I've got a good excuse to go to the range, and do some plinkin' with that 2x magnifyer on it.
VladTepes 160
i was planning on mounting it on with the side mount above the dust cover, is it still compatible? IMHO it is a poor choice for optics placement on an AK... by mounting it to the gas tube you retain use of the iron sights..

vbrtrmn 167
The 2x Tactical Red Dot Sight w/ Multi-Rail Mount is kind of kitschy, really, what the hell would someone mount ON a scope? Maybe a nice bobble head figure or an ash tray? HA! I like the Russian military one, that looks pretty sweet, they've got some decent prices on that site for the night vision stuff. mikeak 0
I bought this one here, http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&...42&t=618051 You can read the reviews of the other people that have bought them. I'm very pleased with mine. I used a UTG guick detach side mount which fit perfectly on my Saiga. $78.00 shipped. Mike

Mike i'm thinking i want something that's name brand (i know, i know) i'm just thinking i'm going to fork over a bunch of money to do up my saiga right why not spend some good money on the optics? that being said i can't see spending upwards of $300 when there seems to be some pretty good sites for that price... so basically i'm looking for the best i can get for $200+

AUSyTyIN 0
Is there a technical term for the "open" red dots versus the "scope" red dots? Anyone have an open red dot that they love?
Willie D 2
The Russian "Kobra" red dots are what their military uses. They are built like a tank but harder to find than they used to be. Beware of airsoft copies.

AUSyTyIN 0
Kinda of, but not really. They are showing what I would call a 1x red dot scope, versus an open sight.
