New gun :) Dented muzzle crown :(

Recommended Posts

So I just got my brand new s-12 out of DROS lockup today and brought it home and while looking it over noticed the muzzle crown is dinged up. It is not a true circle but is slightly dented on one side. The thread protector was also only loosely tightened on. Is this going to affect much? I'm guessing that it will make the patterning off. Will it be safe to shoot slugs out of?

Should I:

Send it back for repairs

Have it repaired by a local smith (is this an easy fix?)

Leave it and just shoot.

Anyone else have this issue on a new s-12?

Pics would be a big help.........................otherwise , you get the "legal" answer.................email, RAAC, get the warranty process started............upon approval of RAAC, I'll send a prepaid UPS label, and fix the gun, no charge............ :smoke: ...VK

Or if you don't want to wait, and assuming your barrel has no choke to it, take it to a local gunsmith and have the dent pulled. Shouldn't cost more than $20 and a few minutes.

What he said...a dent in the crown will not make your patterns any better

what dent. Are you talking flat spot? I would shoot some buck and bird shot and see of that straightened it out, then some slugs, that is so small I had to look twice to see what you were talking about. Is it worse in person? Is there a lip you can feel if you put your finger in there?
