It's fucked up that he faces a carrying a concealed weapon charge for not telling the deputy that he had a firearm, unless the deputy asked & he lied.

In my CHL class, they said only tell police you are armed, if your asked.

The rationale is, Police are already nervous, the last thing you want to do when your around them is start talking about the guns that you have on you, unless they specifically ask.

Personally, I carry concealed so an attacker won't see me coming. "Just an average Joe here!"

But this guy is probably some boaner that just got his permit & wanted to show off.

If he showed it to prove a point & intimidate. He got what he deserved.

If we carry, the last thing we should do is intimidate.

Firearms are tools, not an extension of our dicks.

:blues:

In many states, including mine, you are legally required to inform any officer you come in contact with that you possess a concealed carry permit and are carrying. This does not include fleeting contact, like a nod or a greeting as you walk by an officer. Just if you're pulled over or otherwise contacted by a police officer, such as the situation described in the article. He may be in violation of Ohio law, and the law may be written so that failing to inform a police officer is tantamount to carrying a concealed weapon illegally.

The words dip and shit come to mind . . .

And assuming the quote was accurate, "So mad, I could pop a 9mm at it." Really? At it? To do what? Scare it into working? He doesn't even have the confidence that he can hit a phone that he was, at the time, probably holding in his hand. If I were dumb enough to do/say something like that, I would at least say I'm going to shoot it, not shoot at it.
