Working on my first Saiga 5.45 x 39 conversion today!

Oops, my bad!

 

Your stocks are early AK47 as you state.

 

The "lightening cuts" were what the Russian Army used to tell the difference in caliber! To the enlisted troops or uneducated all AK's look the same. They chose to use the groove in the stock to warn that the weapon was a 5.45 not a 7.62. So to be correct your beautiful stock should have the grooves.

Howdy Cobra, was wondering if you built a bullet guide for that puppy. I am finishing mine and would like to make one for myself but need some dimensions. Looking at pictures Dinzags it is flat on the front and pretty thick. Was wondering if you had dimensions for the flat base type.
