vbrtrmn 167 Posted October 13, 2009 Report Share Posted October 13, 2009 So, I work with a British guy who up to now has been pretty much anti-gun, spouting the general rhetoric of we don't need them and blah blah blah. Over the year I've known him I've talked to him about the values of having firearms such as protecting his wife and two children from criminals and what the Second Amendment is all about. Well, I saw him in the hall a few minutes ago and he's got this kind of shit eating grin on his face. He comes up and says, "Hey I did something I never thought I would this weekend; I was out in Michigan on a friend's farm. My friend asked if I wanted to shoot some skeet and I took your advice and tried it out. Well it was pouring outside, but honestly I actually had a really good time!" So, another Liberal converted, I think I'm up to 4 or 5 now. I know for the most part they're a bunch of whiny douche bags, but sometimes some of them, with some time and effort can be converted to realize the err of their ways. Is it worth the time and effort? Fuck yeah, because now he's going to tell his Liberal friends that shooting guns is actually not as bad as they think. This weekend I have an appointment with a self-declared socialist whom I need to brainwash and indoctrinate into the Libertarian way of thinking. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

I only have converted one so far. I am working on my girlfriend right now (she will be my second). She is starting a new job in a "questionable" part of town. At her orientation she told me they have an employee fighting the no guns at the work place policy (city job). I told her if they end up changing that rule, I will take her to get her CCL. Then I went to my safe and pulled out my Colt vest pocket model. I told her she could carry it to work once she was trained and legal. She said, "No", but then I told her, "Come on. I know you just thought, 'Oh that looks CUTE!' Be honest!" And she told me I was right, LOL! With some of them it is a war of attrition. Keep up the good work! Once that they get to know me and see that I'm a semi-sane person, I can usually rationally and calmly shoot down the BS that they have had drilled into their heads. One, when they found out that I have a CWP was spewing the usual dribble and I used the line that I've heard before,"if you and your family were eating out and a crazed gunman came in and started shooting like thay did in Texas a while back, who would you rather be sitting beside...me and my wife(who also carries), or someone like you? It actually does make sense... Virginia is kind of the South and kind of not. There's a big split between southern and northern Virginia, I'm about 20 minutes from DC and there are a lot of Liberals here... like a fuck-ton (I'm not exactly sure how many are in a fuck-ton, but I'm sure it is a lot). It seems like half the cars are hybrids with "Praise our New Jesus ... Obama" stickers on them. Virginia is kind of an odd place, we've got an election coming up Deeds vs McDonnell. McDonnell is the Republican candidate; though the Democrat primary is open, so Republicans showed up in droves to get Deeds picked... Deeds is actually endorsed by the NRA. Damn bro, that's worth an oak leaf cluster!!! I only have converted one so far. I am working on my girlfriend right now (she will be my second).... Thanks! Keep up the good work!
