Arik 565
A few months ago a friend picked up a century made Bulgarian AK74 built on a Nodak Spud receiver. The rifle came with 2 plastic circle 10 mags and a bakelite bayo. He never fired it and lately he's been trying to get a descent scope for his remington 700 so he offered me the AK for $400. I couldn't pass that up. The rifle seems very well built (for a century). Much better than the WASRs. No gap between the top cover and the rear sight block, no gap between the sight block and the receiver, gas tube and FSB SEEM to ne straight. Tapco TG, AK74 brake. About the only crapy thing I noticed was the lame plastic furniture. Now for a few questions How do I make sure the gas tube and FSB are not canted? The mags have cosmo on them. Not a lot but still there. How do I clean it off. (plastic) How to clean the cosmo of off the side of the bayo sheath? Pics to follow when I get home
elvis christ 451
If you can look through the rear sight leaf, and it lines up with the front sight, its not canted. Use hot water and soap for the cosmoline.
Paulry 50
I use the oven at low heat! sorry! I could not help myself, I hate Cosmo!
nalioth 405
How do I make sure the gas tube and FSB are not canted? Obvious answer: If you can't see any cant, it's not an issue. Even if parts are visibly canted, there is no problem UNLESS you can't zero it (as I keep saying, all Kalashnikovs have some degree of cant).
Coal_forge 15
Use a steamer to clean off the cosmiline or boil the parts if they are small enough. Nothing like CZ52 soup.
