paprotective 362
I went to the range today with my NEVER BEEN FIRED before conversion was done 5.45x39 Saiga with a 'cheap' NCStar 4x30 scope (P4 non-illuminated reticle) which cost $20 with a UTG 978 Quik-Detach mount. I shot 100 yards and 50 yards. Wind was 8-12mph (didn't really matter) Here is the 100 yard pics first. >>> I shot 4 rounds and stopped and measured 1 1/2" Group . Then shot some more. Most groups were all 2 1/2" or so. Then I shot another 'corner' Then another 'corner' The 50 yard shots (were about the same): >>> Very happy going to do 100 and 200 yards next time out. And try for under 6" groups at 200 yds.
Deussne 38
Sweet deal!!! I went to the range with my 5.45 and a Kobra mounted on it, and shot around 1-1/2" groups at 100.. I was very impressed with the rifle shooting abilities as well.

paprotective 362
Thanks folks. I figure for 200 yards I'll go/shoot for 4" or less groups.
wulkyrie 0
That is excellent shooting! Just wondering how does this compare w/ the factory target?

paprotective 362
Was 106mm from factory which is 4.17" at 100 meters. So ALMOST cut in half (granted I'm using an optic). Rumor has it they just toss them in a vise and let'em rip.

paprotective 362
Range 14 by Ft. Dix over there (NJ) in Burlington area. Cost is $60/year and then only $3/hr. (Hence me searching for 10 round mags all the time for when i venture over there.) I go upto Wicens in Warminster area sometimes also. But this is 14 miles from me. jimdigriz 580
Thanks folks. I figure for 200 yards I'll go/shoot for 4" or less groups. Have you noticed any degradation in accuracy as the barrel heats up?
paprotective 362
JimD, Since the 5.45 bbl. is thicker the first 3 COLD shots were within that 1 1/2" mark. It seems to hold. Then 4-X opens up to 2-3" etc. This is my experiance, mileage may vary. Notice the upper right picture at 100 yards.. The same thing. Cold 2-3 shots close, then the flyers (1/4-1/2") Not losing sleep over it at this point. Like to add though I wasn't patient betweenn shots much either. Dix is that much closer to NE Phily area than Wicens? Oh..never mind I'm not going to start figuring out what I have that is legal or illegal in order to go to Jersey. I'll stick to my free ranges at French Creek or Jim Thorpe. One is a dollar on the PA turnpike the othe is six.
