heaviest round you can stabilize?

hey guys,first post here.read lots though.great info and knowledge here.question for all the reloaders and members.what is the heaviest bullet your rifle can stabilize?what length is your 223?what type of ammo?

I remember reading somewhere that the Saiga 223's have a 1 in 9 twist. I think that would mean 68 grains or less. But I am no expert so don't quote me on that, just hope that's a good starting point for your research. I believe we have a few varminters on here that will know a lot about it.

I forget the metric rating but the standard measurement is 1:9.44". I have no trouble with 62gr hp in mine. I have not tried heavier yet.

I am going to try the 75 grain Hornady TAP. That may be pushing it; we'll see.

i put about 20 rds of prvi 75gr mhp downrange and didnt see any signs of tumbling.i was just wondering if anyone else has had any experiences with 75 or even 77gr rounds.

Thanks for the report. That's encouraging. I'm hoping the 75 gr TAP stuff will work, because it's wicked stuff.

Hey guys the ony prob i see her is that the importer raa told me.(the president of the company) Some .223 are 1 in 7 most are 1 in 9.5. The 1 in 7 are when they run out of commercial barrels at the factory and grab mil spec.
