Are you talking about the side mounted units? They'll work fine. In fact, most scope mounts for the 47 will work for the 223 Saiga, as far as I know. What mount are you thinking of specifically?

several people have reported that since it is not permanantley attached, it does not stay centered enough for the sights to remain accurately lined up. on the flip side, they work fine on the shotguns though.

just wondering if it would work to put a ghost ring sight on or should i go with a rail

Those top covers with the rails are a crap shoot, if the cover fits tight it might hold close to zero with a peep or red dot sight, but it will never hold zero with a magnifying scope. But more then likely it will fit loose and you'll get a different impact point with most shots or when you R&R the cover.

 

The side rail on all the Saigas are the same, a standard AK pattern rail.
