jimdigriz 580
I've been thinking that the 10 dollar a mag deal I've been getting for surplus 5.45 mags was a great deal, but now I'm not so sure. I've had a couple of malfunctions recently that I think are attributable to worn out mag springs. Yesterday I got failure to feed with the bolt slamming down on the case about half way up. I yanked out the mag and looked at it and the next round was pointing diagonally up and forward. Is there any source for 5.45 mag replacement springs? I didn't find any on K-Var's site, so am guessing I'm out of luck.
wnycollector 4
I'm a relative new comer to the AK scene...how close are AK-47 springs to AK-74 springs? If they are close, wolff had +5% extra power ak-47 springs here http://www.gunsprings.com/index.cfm?page=items&cID=2&mID=
Polak 10
I would swap out springs with a mag which runs flawlessly. Use the follower and floor plate from the "bad" mag and the spring from a good mag.

I mean to swap the spring from a good mag to the bad one, to see if it infact is the spring's fault.

Use the same follower and floor plate though. Surplus mags are $10 from copes...if it is the spring, just buy more.
L5K 162
Have you taken apart and cleaned up the inside of the magazine as well? I clean all my magazines out before I ever use them and even lube up the insides of the body, and the spring. I have never had any issues with a surplus magazine. I suppose it could be a worn out spring though, as being surplus, who knows how many times it was cycled...
