Does shortening the barrel affect the function of the rifle?

Recommended Posts

I have a buddy that has gone crazy with tax stamps lately. I'm feeling left out. Short barrel this and suppressed that... :)

I was kicking around the idea of shortening that giant 19" barrel on there. Legally of course.

How short can you go and what, if anything needs to be done to the gun to make it work properly after that?

Looks like it could me more complicated than I thought.

You can go 12" and port to .103" (I think) and leave the gas block where it is. Not that hard. I may doing it myself soon.

Just be prepared to clean the gas system often and shoot only heavy loads.
