evlblkwpnz 3,418
Since I do not own a lathe, my methods are quite unorthodox, but I am happy with the result.... BTW I looked high and low for a used cheap standard Polychoke and it just wasn't happening.... so I 'unvented' this one.... Also, when I tighten the Polychoke all the way, what is the last setting supposed to be?
YOT 3,743
I like it. How'd you do it without a lathe?

evlblkwpnz 3,418
We need an embarrassed smiley.... 1- cut the vented part of with a Dremel cutting disc then ground the high spots close to the main portion of the choke 2- clamped a drill in a vise 3- screwed a screwdriver handle in the choke threads (I took it apart first) It was difficult to get it centered. 4- put the screwdriver shaft in the drill 5- locked the trigger on the drill 6- turned the drill at high speed and used a file to get it flat 7- wrapped 400 grit paper on the file and finished it off It took about 20 minutes to do something that I could have done in 2 minutes with a lathe. I'll probably Cold Blue it. Oh well, if you're going to be cheap.... you have to be smart.

YOT 3,743
.... Closest there is, but don't be embarassed because you don't have expensive equipment. I've done very similar operations simply because I had the ability to adapt what I had to what I needed to do. I'm not much for the vents either.

I'm sure they do very little for flash or recoil reduction, they add length, they add weight, and they just look like something that shouldn't be on an evl blk wpn. Some may think the vent looks cool, but I prefer function over form. BTW I'm going to have some of that nice equipment someday.... for now I have to use 'Ghettotech', lol. I get things done though and it always looks good.

It was a challenge and I'm as stubborn as a young mule, so it was going to happen one way or the other. I think I am cursed.... like Macgyver was. There is a fulfilling sense of accomplishment after a little project like that though.
Fumes 84
I guess you missed the memo, removing the vents on the choke and then threading it onto the barrel will turn your gun into a jaw ripping sag. When I need to do something without proper tools I do what is refered to as "turning shit into icecream", looks good man.
