Mandrew 0
Hello everyone this is my first post here and my first saiga! I am currently planning on doing my conversion and am trying to get a parts list together. Since i live behind the iron curtain of New York, im going to have to use a thumbhole stock. Im currently looking at the Choate dragunov stock. They offer two versions for stamped ak receivers 1 for hungain rifles and one for mac 90's. Here are links to them on midway. http://www.midwayusa...ctnumber=218491 http://www.midwayusa...ctnumber=557730 my question is which one will fit in a converted S12? Do you have to cut off the tang to fit them? Any suggestions or help is appreciated. Thanks guys Edited June 13, 2011 by Mandrew
Foxtail207 23
I'm answering, but from the rifle point of view, I do not know if this is true for the shotgun.... I'm doing the same thing and have asked the same question about the stock. I was told this one is correct for Saiga stamped receiver when moving the trigger group: http://www.midwayusa...ctnumber=557730 One member here has used this, that I know of, and he said it dropped right in, you just have to shorten the top screw about an 1/8" so it doesn't go through the bottom of the stock. Another Dragunov stock that is said to work is the AIT stock. It too has to be for a stamped receiver . Sorry if this does not really help you.
dieb4iwake 60
any stock for stamped AK's will work. The Saiga is stamped and if it is a thumbhole stock it can be for a Milled receiver and still work, It was done here http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/68456-east-meets-west/
Scott Kenny 144
If you want a wood stock, Rhineland arms makes a very nice rifle-style thumbhole as well (has an adjustable cheekrest). It screws right into the tang. They do come unfinished, so you would also need to invest in some sandpaper and a bottle of your wood finish of choice (and several hours for custom fitting). I used boiled linseed oil on the tiger maple stock I bought from them, looks beautiful.
