Started out as 6.8, switched to 300 AAC Blackout. Spikes Lower, Vltor VIS - 1AK Carbine Upper. Tango Down Forward Grip, I cut the Grip making it a bit shorter, now Its just right, not a stubby, and not extra long. Tango Down Grip, and a Vltor Stock. Tac Light is a Olight M20 Warrior Special Ops 320 Lumens secured to the Rail by a Olight offset Mount. Once I get my approval Letter I will be getting the 9 inch 300 AAC Barrel. Examiner said I have to make sure I have the approval letter with the Gun at all time once the change has been made. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
MCASgt New River 10,036 Posted October 28, 2011 Report Share Posted October 28, 2011 Every examiner is different regardless of that last I heard the difference between Temporary and Permanent was the fact that an AR type weapon can change out to any of the common calibers extremely easy and temporary...versus changing the caliber on say a SBR bolt action or other fixed barrel rifle would be MUCH MORE complicated and permanent. They are required to keep the NFA database updated, but nowhere does the law say you're required to notify them of any changes. They request that you do, but it isn't required. Also, if you didn't send two copies of the letter along with a self addressed stamped envelope, you won't be getting a copy back. Even if you did, you could be waiting a year or more.
