MrOneEyedBoh 14
I cant seem to find a decent rod that I can use on the saiga. Most rod sets have those cheap plastic adapters etc. I know about dewey but I dont see spending that much on a smooth bore shotgun rod. Is there any alternatives out there? The brushes are I think 5/16", right?
The_Caged_Bird 474
My cleaning kit is mostly brass, the only plastic parts are the handles. Mine is a really cheap kit too, one of those "universal" kits with the cheap Chinese wood case...
MrOneEyedBoh 14
Where did you get that from? I think Ive seen them on ebay. I have dewey rods, and brushes for my other guns. but the Siaga doesnt need top be fancy. Ill look around to see if I can find that kit.
The_Caged_Bird 474
Well, I was going to post a link but then I remembered that I can't... This is what mine looks like: Apparently it's called the D.A.C. Universal 35 piece gun cleaning kit... It's cheap, but I don't really have any problems with it. I'm sure that if one were to go to Cabela's website and type in that exact name, they'd get this pulled up... Edited January 15, 2012 by Caged
roachtron 49
I got a hoppes cleaning kit from walmart or another large retail store for around $15. Its pretty similar to the one above just has a metal case instead of wood. All the rods and adapters are brass. I actually prefer a boresnake though, unless I am doing a deep cleaning. txapacheguy 1
I use the boresnake to clean the barrel, and a cheap aluminum rod to run an oiled patch down the bore. There are a few pieces of spare brass and aluminum rod in my kit. One is used to drive my gas puck out of the gas tube when my Saiga is dirty. The other is attached to an old 12GA brush. I place the rod into a cordless drill, and clean my gas port and its thread with a little "rotary action". All of my cleaning rods were probably obtained at Walmart, but my brass patch holders and other tools came from Cabelas, and a local gun shop here in Colorado...
