RED333 1,025
I am a member of a few other forums, found this for sale and picked it up. Had heard of it talked about, how well it flies, how hard it hits, and what a bitch it is to cast. The last is not true, used the tips the guy I got it from to make these. The Lee are there for a comparison. Dont laugh to hard at my redneck handles, they do work well, hold the mold shut well, just dont open very far, I do have the real ones coming.
YOT 3,743
Cool! I've wondered about those. Are they meant for sabots or smoothbore? Please let us know how they shoot.

schultze13 354
I am assuming that is a Lymans 525gr mold you have there? If it is to answer Yeoldtools question it is loaded into a standard shot wad it is good out to around 100 yards in a smooth bore I have not tried a rifled barrel. I got some from a friend of mine to try out and liked them. I ordered a new one on friday as a B-day present to myself. What Alloy did you use? The one I tested was made of WW I was going to use a mix of 1:1 WW and Linotype to made a hardball alloy and see how they work on some old car doors. Also let me know what tricks you used in casting to prevent any problems. I have been doing alot of research over on the castboolits forum.
RED333 1,025
I used pure, and a few WW. I got out into the back yard to try my nrw slugs. Fed bulk, I opened the crimp, poured out the shot, melted and cast the slug. 25 yrds, 1/4" steel plate and 5 gal bucket of sand, wet sand. Saiga 12 19" barrel, Cobra adapter, Browning rifled choke. Left side is the Lyman slug, the inside out ones are out of the sand. The splater ones are off the plate, dented the plate well. Center are .451 ball from my cap and ball pistol. Right is a Lee key hole off the steel.
chris2000ss 2
how was the accuracy with the saiga ?
RED333 1,025
At 25 yrds, dead nuts. That is all I had time to shoot.
csspecs 1,987
If you hear a loud whooshing sound at firing, its the wad getting stuck in the back of the slug.. I filled mine with industrial hot glue and that solved the problem.
