pietro75 0
Hey guys and girls- I have been considering mounting a scope on my saiga sporter. I have found two basic types: One that utilizes the scope rail and one that replaces the reciever cover. I would probably opt to use the rail(thats why they put it there), however, I wonder if any body has experience with the type that mount on the cover. It is a firm attachment, yet, it seems with removal of the cover it may put the scope off a bit. Thanks in advance for any feedback to this thread P.S. does any oneknow where I can get this stock and grip I just lost it on Ebay US made nonfolding stock and ergo grip Edited March 16, 2004 by pietro75
J A 0
The stock on ebay came from RPB it is the first item for sale on this page. http://rpbusa.net/ak.html Some of the receiver cover mounts work ok but unless they are a real tigh fit they will loose zero when removed and replaced. As you have to do this every time you clean your rifle they are just so so. The correct/origional factory mount for the Saiga is the detachable mount with the built in rings. But the other two work just fine. The side mounts will remain zeroed no matter how many times you take them on and off. http://www.cdnninvestments.com/ak.html
pietro75 0
Thank you for the info and sites to check out. I was quite sure I wanted a rail mount. After seeing the price Of the stock I'm bummed I missed the ebay set( I was trying to be crafty waiting to the last min. to get the last bid!
Onepoint 0
Heheh, that's what auto bid is for. Just bid what you want to pay, if someone wants it worse you, wont get it. If someone wants it almost as bad, you will pay what you bid. If no one else wants it, you get a bargain. Edited March 19, 2004 by Onepoint
pietro75 0
I know, I was hesitant! I didn't know what a set like that goes for, it wasn't very descriptive and the seller didn't email me back with answers to my questions. I didn't want to buy and find out after shipping that I could have got it new somewhere else for close to the same price. It's OK ,I just started aquiring parts to build a amd-65. Sooo, I am not going to use that type of stock. I do like those saw pistolgrips that blackjack has on his site though! Do you happen to know where I can get a muzzle break to make the 12.6" barrel legal. Thanks
Tengu 0
The receiver cover scope mounts DO NOT WORK!! They are made to fit regular AKs and will appear to fit the Saiga but will not actually fit properly. The 1st round you fire the mount will come off with the scope! Side rail mount is best. I bought a AK74 style muzzle brake from RPBUSA for $14.95 that is the lowest price of any AK parts vendor. However you will have to buy a barrel adapter from Dynasystems-ltd.com. The muzzle brake and adapter are both available from Dynasystems-ltd.com A muzzle brake that will fit on over the barrel shroud of a Saiga rifle and has to be welded in place, is available from JoeKen.net URLs: http://www.RPBusa.com http://www.dynasystems-ltd.com http://www.joeken.net Edited March 19, 2004 by Tengu

texan1830 0
Howdy, I added a side rail mount to my Saiga 7.62 with a 3-9x42 scope. Russian made mount. What I like about it other than the fact it fits perfectly, is that you can still use open sights under the scope mount. Got it from cdnn. texmac
stevem 0
I got a side rail mount from CDNN as well.It works perfectly and only costs $39.They have them with rings or with weaver mount.I got the weaver mount style and it sits a little high, but it works very well and you can take it off and on without having to sight it in again.I think the mounts with the rings sit a little lower. KySoldier 2
Don't get the one built into the cover, got in on an AK, not much good as it is so inaccurate.
