Ruly3 0
I have a Saiga-12 3-port. I want to elliminate friction as much as possible. I have a polished Bolt/Carrier/Tigger/etc by Pauly (Awesome job). Can someone recommend/describe how to go about polishing the rails? Exactly where? What to use? Mirror polished or leave "brushed". Pictures help a lot too! Much appreciated...
Paulyski 2,227
I just hit the rails with a course (beige) dremel abrasive buff & leave them at that. Then spread a thin coat of black moly grease on them. Mirror polish on metal to metal sheer surfaces isn't conducive to lubrication retention. It's counterproductive in multiple ways. That's also why the underside of GlassBolt is Jeweled like it is, and the face of your hammer has the finish it does.
Cobra 76 two 2,677
All you need is a foam / sponge sanding block and some automotive grade extra fine sand paper.
Ruly3 0
Thanks... I followed the instructions that Pauly provided above. Relatively easy job...now to test.
