Looking for a LRBHO

Recommended Posts

Does anyone make a LRBHO? In the limited looking that I have done I have yet to see one. Figured I would ask here to see before I try a go at it. I was looking for something that was not a mag mod and hopefully some type of drop in item and not a hack up the receiver thing.

Your only viable choice is the real Russian factory one. A few of the parts sets were available from Rusmilitary, and will supposedly be again at some point. Other problem is that the installation looks to be difficult, lots of cutting. One more thing is that it is designed to be used with the magwell.

I'd love to get one too. I read some people were making them... I wonder what happened to them

Someone told me that they didn't function properly. He told me it would lock the bolt open after a couple shots and that he eventually removed it. I don't know if is completely true but the only LRBHO vids I've seen only fire 2-3 rounds.

OK Looking over that setup I can understand why it would fire 2-3 rounds. Seems that would be a spring issue, the hold down spring (lower outside receiver) putting more pressure than the magazine pushes up.

The system you posted pictures of earlier is currently in use on many factory guns and it works just fine. I have that setup in my Legion IZ-433.

The magazine does not put any force on it, only the magazine follower. Once the follower pops up after the last round it will push the metal bar up, locking the bolt back.

This statement makes the LRBHO sound dependent on a magwell which is incorrect. You don't need a magell to have a LRBHO.

Here's a pic off of gunbroker of an unconfigured Legion Iz-109BHO.

A few of those were imported with the LRBHO and no magwell, but those guns have been associated with the problem of the rock-and-lock action of the mag snagging on the LRBHO actuator tab. The problem doesn't occur with the magwell because of the straight insertion action. The Russians designed the LRBHO and magwell to be used together.
