has anyone tried to modify a shotgun barrel to fit into an ar upper, say mabey a 308 upper and us the same gas piston system as the cmmg just trowing the idea out there

The only way I could see this happening is if it were a single shot, break open design. Even then, you'd have to design a new bolt. Not sure you'd be able to cut away enough of the upper receiver to allow proper ejection and still be strong enough not to fly apart.

There's a .410 upper that you can buy to put on a standard lower, but no 12 ga. that I know of.
