P2AB 9
I needed to adjust my front sight and was looking at front sight tools. As I read the views I was unimpressed with the various C style tools. Then I came across the AKFST from Magna-Matic Defense, it was pricey compared to the C style but had good reviews and sure looked much better made. Sure I could spend $5-$15 on a tool that stood a good chance of breaking after a use or two or I could bite the bullet, buy a well made tool and buy American at the same time (I try to stay away from Chinese stuff). It came in the mail today. The first thing I noticed was that it was heavy. As I opened it and examined it I could tell that it was well made... it just has that good feel that well made, quality tools have. I opened it, pulled out the laser bore sighter and started adjusting the front sight. I'm glad I spent the $30 plus shipping, the tool will last forever. MidwayUSA has it for a couple of bucks less than the manufacturer but I bought it straight from the manufacturer. It's the only AK item them have, but well worth it. They have a heavier duty gunsmith version and occasionally have some blemished ones that have cosmetic flaws for a few bucks less. http://www.magna-matic-defense.com/AKFST-AK-47-Front-Sight-Tool-p/akfst.htm
poolingmyignorance 2,191
I use the Tapco military style FSAT, it's solid hardened steel not gonna break easy and was only $10 brand new.
Mullet Man 2,114
I have the same Magna-Matic AKFST. It is a beefy and welcomed piece to the collection. Edited June 22, 2013 by Mullet Man
PRISONSHANK 70
I bought a utg from a gun show for $5 and its sighted over a handful of ak's in to perfection...its such a rudimentary tool i cant justify overspending.
netpackrat 566
I have the Magna-matic tool and it is very well made. First time around I bought one of the cheapies, and it is a piece of crap.
