Sdustin 578
I took apart a 1911 and changed the trigger. The hammer will not always stay cocked, it will follow the slide about half the time. The pistol is a mix of different parts rock island and Wilson combat, and the disconnector sprig leg has been filed slightly and I think that make be the problem. But this was my first time detail stripping a 1911 so I want to ask if there was some way caused this? I just changed parts. No "fitting" The safetys work but the hammer will follow the slide. tim2shu 48
Parts from 2 different guns could be a problem to they may not be made the same
james lambert 3,059
Sounds like the sear spring sliped off the left side of the sear
storm6490 2,768
The 1911 is easy for me to clean. I find it to be more of a real gunsmith job if you want to tune it in. All the more reason to see a real smith if it's a mix match of parts. Think Jim nailed it.
Sdustin 578
Sounds like the sear spring sliped off the left side of the sear i think this is the problem, it looks like the "gunsmith" tweaked the spring too much
