I know for the Saigas the G2 hammer where the axis pin goes needs to have a little material shaved off to clear the BHO lever.(correct?) Since the Veprs don't have a BHO, does the G2 more or less drop-in right out of the box?

Drops in without any mod on VEPR rifle..  The only caveat is the VEPR 12.

Yep, drop in for rifles. At least 5.45, 5.56, 7.62 rifles. I can say those work as a drop in from experience.

on the v12 i used the factory hammer with the g2 kit, seemed like the US hammer was hanging up when bolt was cycling. have not had any problems with the pull, it is just as smooth as my rifles with the complete g2 kit. by doing this you lose the 3rd compliance part but that can be made up with other parts.

Or the G-2 hammer can be re-profiled and polished so it's much nicer than the factory hammer and you don't lose a compliance part.
