JoeLogic 3
What needs to be tweaked to have slugs feed reliably? I am shooting Rio 1410 fps slugs. Seems the right side (Ejection port side) of the shell gets hung up on something. If I poke the shell into the port with my finger the round will then chamber.
gunfun 3,931
Do those have a soft roll crimp? You may find that the roll gets damaged and sticks out to the side to catch on things.
toothandnail 275
Tweak the "wings" on the front of the mags, as GF said soft hull ammo is also a problem. Maybe dehorn the breach/chamber, some of the older guns have very sharp edges.
Flatland Shooter 22
I've had good luck with Remington Managed Recoil slugs and buckshot (1200 fps). They run well with no tweaking to a well broke in gun. I;ve found accuracy with these slugs to be good out to 65 yards. At 100+ yards not so good. Bill
JoeLogic 3
What would make it or be considered a "soft" hull? Thanks for the tips.
james lambert 3,059
I put tuning videos on youtube years ago look under firebird precision
JoeLogic 3
The problem persists even after tweaking the wings a little bit. I bent both wings a little left. Even happens with AA shells. Can it be a problem with the SAS lower and the second gen mags? My gen 1 mags run just fine in the SAS lower. Flatland Shooter 22
I've not seen a Gen 2 magazine. Can you see the difference? Here is part 1 of 4 from Firebird Precision on building the FP-15 magazine. A good tutorial on tuning the magazines is included.
JoeLogic 3
I can only tell a difference on the body and follower. The Gen 1 have a collar stop and the Gen 2 are a taper stop. Plus the black and orange followers have a different front profile. From video 3, I guess I will just adjust the wings more. ringram 0
Ive had similar and a tweak on the right hand wing helps Ive also chamfered the right side of the barrel a tiny bit. Used to hang up about 1 in 50. Hopefully sorted now. I hand cycled a couple of mags no problem. As also mentioned see if you can fund ammo with a good roll crimp.
