  1. 4357 Thanks Mike! Just got my mags yesterday and my trigger finger is real itchy!
  2. The spring loaded pin was removed to make opening the cover the same as a regular AK. Just push in the end of the recoil spring assembly and off comes the cover. With all the weird changes required by regulators on Saiga rifles, I figured the extra pin was one more of the same that was not needed. I am still very curious as to why the Saiga 12 needs th extra cover retention compared to a 7.62X39. Of course a 3" slug shell kicks a hell of alot more. Gotta love it!
  3. Here is your chance as an experienced Saiga 12 shooter to point out to the new owner what I dumb idea he had. As an owner of regular AKs I was looking at my new Saiga 12 shotgun and thought what a horrible design change had been made to the end of the recoil spring assembly. There is an "extra" spring loaded pin on top of the end of the assembly! It made it harder to take the top cover off and I don't like changes to a good design anyways. I grabbed a punch and had that spring loaded pin out of there quick!! Fast forward to the first test fire at the range today. The rifle range doesn'
  4. I just bought last week from FTF Industries from a listing they had on GunBroker. They are not listed on their web site. Try calling them. I paid $25 plus $7 shipping. Good Luck! Update: Check this search out on GunBroker. FTF Industries has two more posted. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/SearchRes...ard&Cat=982
  5. I found them!!! robertrtg.com has all the parts for the front and rear sight.
  6. Does anyone know where I might find these sights? I want to use them on a Saiga 12. That big front site circle is real easy to swing onto a fast moving clay pidgeon (or anything else).
  7. I had the bolt hanging up in the bolt carrier on a new S12. There was peening in the bolt carrier channel as evidence that the bolt was impacting a "flat" part of the channel when closing. I ended up cutting the angled part of the channel a little deeper so that the bolt entered the angled part of the channel and started rotating without harshly impacting any part of the channel. Here is the thread I had posted on it. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=24016&hl=
  8. Yes Gas Giant, thats the stock. Mine has a steel pin that the stock rotates on with an c clip holding it all together. The design is pretty good except for two things. When it is folded, it makes operation of the saftey and bolt carrier harder. The other thing is getting it open. You really have to push it down hard to get it unlocked and swinging to the open position. I have an Ace folder for my Daewoo rifle that is sweet. (and expensive) It has a similar locking mechanism but when the stock is folded, the spring pressure gently presses it against the side of the rifle. When you want it open,
  9. TAPCO has a new folding stock out. Has anyone check one out yet? The old folding stock was a PITA to unfold. I modified one of the old design so that the stock wouldn't rise to fully lock in the folded position but the new stock is advertised to be easy opening. Update: I was looking at the TAPCO site and the folding stock may not be new, just part of the "Fusion" stock set including the folding stock hand guard and grip. When I bought my folding stock, the seller said it was the old style..... so I keep looking for a new design.
  10. 12 gauge is the way to go!! Nothing else gets the attention of the squirrels around here.
  11. That has to be 0.090" per port. 0.90" is just under an inch. That part of the barrel would look more like a flash suppressor. (If there was anything there at all.)
  12. I have taken the plunge to fix the interferance that seems to be causing the problem. I used a cut off wheel in my flex shaft dremmel tool to cut the channel in the bolt carrier back about 1/8". Now when the bolt goes to close, the bolt lug flows smoothly down the channel without banging against the "shelf" first. Hopefully no banging no peening. The bolt still fully rotates on closing. The action closes without the hitch like before. I only feel a little resistance when the extractor compresses. Can't wait to try it out.
  13. I am leaning towards cutting the corner back so that the bolt lug is hitting an angled channel when the bolt closes. The earlier recommendation to use Kasenit to case harden the surface also sounds like a good idea. (Unfortunately Brownells is out of stock) Thanks everyone. I will keep checking the thread for new info anyone has.
  14. This is a picture of my bolt carrier that has not been fired. The peening is small but surprising that there is anything at all. You have to look for the white spot that is bare steel in the center of the photo. The rest of the carrier is black. No luck getting pictures of my friends carrier yet.
  15. I will see I can get one posted tonight of the minor peening on my new carrier. I will ask my friend if he has a digital camera to send me a picture of his.
