  1. It has been a while since I did my S-12conversion. I now have a S-308 that I need to "de-nuter". I have a question on the FCG. Will a retaing plate work in the 308? I used a modded one for my S-12, but I have read that some safty leavers have to be ground on for clearence with the hammer. So I do not know if the intererence will also preculde using a retaining plate. Thanks for any responses. Russ
  2. Thank you for the replies and photo's. That is what i want mine to look like!
  3. Do any of you have an opinion of these two stocks. I am thinking of using one on my S-308 long bbl. I went to Choate website but it does not list the saiga. It has for the Mak90 stamped but it that an angle cut reciver? They also say the cheekrest is an option, but I could not find it on the site. The ATI looks a little lower in quality, However I have not seen eithe in person to make a better judgment. Any help would be great. Thanks Russ P.S. I will be "denutering" this to the orginial config. so I need a stock for a pistol grip converted Saiga
  4. I called them tonight and they told me they only had three mags left! I ordered two so if someone needs one give them a call. I hope more will be made soon. Good luck Russ
  5. Thanks GG. I am only 5-10ish..arms just a tad long for my height. I really had hope that someone had already used this combo and could offer some insight. Please let me know when you get yours done GG. Thanks Russ
  6. I have my S12 "denutering" finished except for a stock. I think I want a Ace folder. I will be using the hinge that uses the stock tang. I know that this adds some length to the stock. My question is what length of stock too get. I was comfortable with the LOP of the factory stock, I have a tapco folder on my AK and it is an ok length. On my AR I use my 6 position stock back one notch from the end in summer attire. So any help would be nice. Thanks Russ
  7. I am having trouble with trying to use the BHO. Do I need to change anything to use it. I compared the Tromix FCG and the Factory but the only difference I see is that there is a angle cut on the side of the hammer on the factory part. Any ideas? I also just want to say thank you tony for the DIY trigger guard. I am so impressed with how easy it got me past the part that gave me the most concern. Now once I get the FCG in I am done. Thanks Russ
  8. Regarding shell deformation: Whart are your thoughts on a loaded mag and bolt locked open. That way all you do is jack the charging handle and your ready to " get busy".
  9. Yes I am doing the full conversion (denutering). I have all the stuff I need except for a stock ordered from MAA. Thanks for your reply.
  10. Thanks Nathan and Tony. I have placed my order!!!! You guys are great!!!
  11. Roger that Tony. I will hold on hiting the order button till I hear from you. Thanks Russ
  12. I thought the Tapco G2 needed to be changed to work in the S-12?
  13. I have my Tromix DIY trigerguard ordered. I am ordering a Krebbs retainer plate for it and I was going to get the Tromix modifed triger unit. Mississippi Auto Arms no longer has these parts. I need some ideas for the trigger for my S-12. My search-fu is weak so that is why the new topic. I am not very handy so the least labor intensive option will be my best choice. I am not that comfortable with needing to modify a G-2 unit. Thanks Russ
  14. I got a email from Nathan at MAA that they will have them by weeks end, I don't know how long the waiting list is but I think I recall Tony saying the first 100 will go to them. Drop Nathan a line, they are very quick to reply/ I also received an e-mail from Nathan @ MAA. If you are on their waiting list you can place your order now and they should ship within the week. I'll follow up when mine comes in. As stated before, Nathan is quick to respond to any question (my first Saiga 12 build) and will put you on the list if the first batch aren't already spoken for. Yes I am o
  15. Im ready!!!..where do i send the check? Mississippi Auto Arms still does not show them.
  16. I may give Tony a few more weeks for his. The selctor stop is kinda a deal killer for me. I want a bolt on guard/grip so I wont have to cut or drill and tap.
  17. I guess I will see who will really make this part for me, This one or the tromix part from Mississippi auto arms. I am getting very impaient. Russ
  18. I have not yet done my first conversion and I am already thinking of my second. What model is the easiest to convert the S-12 The .308 or 223/7.62x39? Thanks Russ
  19. I will also be loking for a place in 2-3 yrs. I had to drop TX from the list for Heat and limited to non-exsisting public land for hunting. Right now I am looking towards WA state or Utah
  20. I am going to try the conversion, but I keep going back and forth about doing it or having it done. I think with the new (out soon I hope) trigger guard I will be OK. The big challenges for me are drilling out the rivets and trigger plate and the idea of cutting a hole for the pistol grip. I have no welding experiance and am able to cross thread a light bulb. However with all the help from this site I will be fine.
  21. Thank you very much Cobra. I have been on the fence about doing a conversion on my S12 myselfe. Thanks to Tony's soon to be release trigger guard/saftey stop I think I have summoned up the courage to do this. As I will not be paying a smith to do this I will put a folder on it. I think I can live with the external block for the no cutting instal. I want to thank you guys and gals for this forum and the info it provides.
