I respectfully disagree. The 7.62x39 will penetrate and stay intact better, it is a fine deer cartridge out to 100-150 yards. The .223 will tumble, keyhole or even blow up inside the target. It is a horrible round for hunting medium to large game. A lightweight, hight velocity round will cause more bruising and damage to the meat than a heavier, slower one that stays intact and exits the body.
