  1. hate to add this guys but: at my range, you can practically do anything....i've dumped 30rnd mags as fast as i can pull the trigger...no timing is involved whatsoever! LMAO! that's not to say there aren't rules of course but time firing not an issue here in minnesota. my saiga is my toy gun, it's for fun has no real purpose to it, compared to my AR, I would take the AR for accuracy any day of the week, but my saiga does fairly well on it's own.
  2. well last i heard about 60% of all l.e. agencies in this country were carrying some model of glock. i recently read that the new Dept. of Homeland Security/Coast Guard awarded a gigantic contract to SIGARMS (SIGSAUER) to provide each dept. with the new SIG P229 w. the DAK trigger system. I have several glocks (model 22,20 and 37) and a sigpro 2340 and love them to death, the feel good in my hand, i shoot fairly accurate with them and I DO CARRY THEM CONCEALED! reason being i dont just shove it into the waist line, nor glock clip it, i actually have a specially made holster for inside the waist
  3. Bvamp: trust me i've had my share of stupid moments, buddy pinged a .40 rnd off a metal stop and came back and gutted me, bruised for about 2 wks. we were out shooting, and i was teaching him how, he thought it'd be cool to shoot at the metal plate cause it was sure to sound cool.....and in the end i took the gun away from him, said we were finished and took off for home bruised and battered....never gone shooting with him again. now once again back to the original thread (i always manage to get myself sidetracked here for some reason) best advice is get something you are comfortable wi
  4. kysoldier: thanks for the offer, but i think i managed to mickey mouse my way through it, i have smaller hands so what i did was install the grip directly to the buttstock, didnt do anything else...i got the idea from someone else here, but cant remember their name. but if anyone does have any more helpful hints, the only thing i'm really looking to do now is install a muzzle break and then i think i'm finished...so if anyone can help me with that it'd be greatly appreciated.
  5. G22 with trijicon nighties for $465? hell of a deal, new one here in mn with all that will run bout $$560+. I got mine for $400 used from a cop friend with all the goodies.....if you want a .45 glock check the G37 .45GAP. I just got one and love it....dbl. stack .45 pretty much the same balistics as a .45 ACP only shorter cartridge so if you have smaller hands easier for you to get your meat hooks around the grip....and recoil (at least to me) is a little less than a .45 ACP.
  6. very good point kysoldier: single action trigger's arent the best. but my advantage from carrying my 1911 is this: .45 cal 230gr. hydra shocks + hi-cap (13rnd+1) mags with all the trimmings of a nice gun (tijicon night sights, blackjack recoil buffer, ambi-safety, extended mag release) and tons and tons of practice (had the gun for less than a year and already working on 2000 rnds.) And if i can't get a round off I can beat them with it, cause it's heavier than hell (the all metal constuction.) The only true disadvantage is the single stage trigger, which means that you have to walk around wit
  7. there was a story within the last year, I'm not sure if completly true, but it goes as follows: guy is hunting deer in alaska when all the sudden he is charged by a grizzly. he shoots the bear like 5-7 times with a 7mm rem mag and drops it....he contacts the local dnr and cleans the bear, low and behold he finds human body parts still in the digestive tract. DNR comes out and they track the bear's previous movements, and they find the remains of 2 people that the bear had mauled within the last 24 to 48 hrs. the 2nd victim had a .38 special and shot the bear 6 times and still ended up as lunch
  8. i have a x1 reddot scope on a side rail mount i purchased both at nightvisionweb.com as far as staying true the screws on my mount come loose from time to time but not a real big deal works just the same after some tightening. have fun blasting pumpkins, though i prefer the "non gender/race" targets, but as long as it goes boom right?
  9. the 1903 A3 is a direct copy of the german mauser k98 down to every detail, including the magazine selector switch (which allowed the the bolt to continue functioning as it drew rnds. off the magazine or if set to single, a rnd had to be placed in the magazine everytime. this was done as to not waste ammo ) to the 3 position bolt safety. only difference is caliber .30-06 vs. 8mm which is probably comprable....the spanish mauser is guess what a copy of the german mauser. I know this because I have a Springfield 1903 A3, a german k98 and a yugo m48 which are all the same in apperance. the 19
  10. HI EVERYONE I'm new to the forums, but have been looking at all the posts since about Jan 04 when I bought my Saiga 7.62 and was curious where I could go to get aftermarket goodies and advice for it. Well it's been about a year and I have finally gotten off my dead ass and joined and posted. I've just been so damn busy shooting that damn gun (IT'S SO ENJOYABLE! 3500 RNDS AND NO PROBLEMS YET!). But I just wanted to thank all the regulars here for their advice which I've sneaked away with....With that advice I managed to find HI-CAPS, scope mounts etc etc. And managed to instal a pistol
  11. you can get 1000 rnds. wolf for about $79 at centerfiresystems.com at least that's where i've bought 4000 rnds since jan 2004. as far as a scope goes: you're choice, I have a red dot mounted on mine.
  12. as far as what caliber to get, that only you can really answer. but ask yourself this, what are you using it for (i.e. hunting, self-defense etc etc). The main object if is to be able to place your rounds on target in a fashion that will stop whatever it is you are shooting *in this sense size doesnt really matter, but it does help alot* I have 4 pistols (all of which are duty weapons) they are chambered in 10mm, .40, .45 ACP and a .45 GAP. So for me personally I will not carry anything less than a .40 cal, but that's just personal preference. And no offense BVamp ( I have taken some of y
