  1. Okay this is sad. I finally got the opportunity to take out my new .308 and run some ammo through it. My buddy was just as excited to see what it would do. We drove an hour out of town to one of our "secret" shooting spots. I loaded the Saiga 8 rd. mag and began firing the first few rounds down range. To my surprise, on the third round it stopped. I looked down at the rifle and notice the trigger felt like it was just hanging there. No pressure just an easy pull to the back position. While pointing the barrel down range I started pulling the trigger multiple times then on the fifth o
  2. I haven't taken my .308 hunting yet but I certainly plan on doing some deer hunting with it. I love my bolt action but the Saiga will be perfect for close quarter and brush hunting.
  3. Thanks guys!!! I'm such a doof. I had visited Kalinka before, but focused only on the BP-01 nomenclature. It was a few months back. The Saiga/AK-74 mount with the 1" rings looks like just the ticket. Thanks. J-T J-T Can you show me which one you are going to get. I'll trying to figure out which one will fit mine with the rings centered and high. Thanks! HF13
  4. I believe these are the same as Weatherby Vangard rifles. (Sub-MOA) Awesome tack drivers for the money!
  5. Welcome J in Colorado! You've come to the right place to find the best info on Saiga firepower! Everyone here seems pretty cool about giving the right information. I'd jump on any Saiga right now in the $500 price point. These things are put together really well and are only going to go up in price. The .308 is a great rig for reaching out and has plenty of knock down power. Good luck and be sure you keep us posted! HF13
  6. AK, do you have a pic of your Kalashnikov MP74 mount? I may be in the same boat as you, I believe mine is of the same vintage. Thanks! After viewing the supplied link I realized mine is the 74MP-03.
  7. I was at a gun show last week and spotted .308's going for $650.00 to $800.00. Prices are going up due to panic buying. We get the government we deserve...
  8. Okay, I've made up my mind to start my conversion with a nice mount and scope. I'm thinking Nikon Buckmaster 3-9 x 40 with a good side mount that centers the scope over the dust cover. I'd like a high mount so I can still use the iron sights if needed. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction for the scope mount which doesn't have to be quick release. Thanks!
  9. Eugene, how do you like the skeleton stock? Looks like you kept the stock trigger, how do you like the ergonomics of the stock in relation to the trigger? Thanks!
  10. Very good points clange, I'll keep them in mind when I start my build. Right now I'm worried about finding some good ammo. Everyone seems to be sold out of any decent bulk .308.
  11. Thanks Will, lots of great info! You take your sporting rifle seriously, I hope to clone it;-)
  12. Very cool, not bad for the 16 inch barrel at 50, thanks for sharing!
  13. I figure a .308 needs a little more barrel but I'd love to have a smaller cal. with the sweet 16, maybe a .223
  14. Will, what kind of flash suppressor and where can I get one? Also what do you think of the UTG scope side mounts? I hope I'm not asking too many questions... Thanks for your help!
  15. Looks great Will, I think I'll go the same route you took. How hard to do the trigger and grip and where do I get the POSP?! Awesome Com-bloc battle weapon!
  16. Where is a good place to locate one of these? I've heard there are a couple of companies that make them.
  17. Hey Tom, I'm doing the same with mine but I'm not sure which is better, side mount or top mount. I'll probably go with a more conventional hunting scope, Nikon or Simons. I've heard these make great hunting rifles, I can't wait to take it out!
