Some better pics of my new Arsenal SGL20

Any M4 SH*T should not be put on an AK, IMO. Its tacky looking and wasn't designed for the AK. You should just keep the K-var stock on there. Damn dude, you're quite the purist. I think M4 style stocks look and work fine on AK's, and more importantly, I like having a stock with an instantly adjustable LOP. Oh well, to each his own. At least now I know that you'd have given me shit about putting a M4 type collapsible stock on my rifle, no matter who made it. -
Are these issues covered under the RAAC warranty?

Sent RAAC an email just now.. so I oughta know shortly whether they'll cover these issues under warranty. -
Are these issues covered under the RAAC warranty?

I suspected that the scratches on the bolt carrier were probably normal, (even though I've never seen a 7.62 AK do this to its bolt carrier), but I figured I'd ask and make sure. I'm not that worried about the 50% FTE at this point, becuse as I said, all it's had through it is 17 shells of cheapo no 8 low brass, so it's nowhere near "broken in". It's got 3 ports, though the front 2 may be the tiniest bit obstructed by the edge of the gas block, it's really hard to tell, so I think she should cycle properly with some more use, and perhaps more lubrication. If I do send it in to have the s -

Are these issues covered under the RAAC warranty?
shades_of_grey replied to shades_of_grey's topic in Saiga-12
Well, unfortunately I have shot all of 17 no. 8 birdshot shells through it, (with about 50% FTE, mostly stovepipes), and I bought the gun through gunbroker, so I guess I'll contact RAAC and see what they can do. -
Forgive my ignorance, but are there laws preventing you from properly converting your rifle, ninja steve? If not, spending time to paint furniture that would be replaced in a pg conversion seems pointless. If you are unfortunately under a state "assault weapons" ban, then nice job painting that furniture.

Wow, that does suck. Condolences, bro. On a side note, I wish you'd sold that ammo to me.. I'm looking to pick up about 1k more rounds. I guess ya gotta do what ya gotta do.. but I'd have sold my wife and children first, before the 7.62.

Hey all, I have a couple questions regarding what problems with a new Saiga 12 are eligible for warranty repair. First of all, for some reason, the bolt carrier of my new S-12 is getting quite a collection of scratches to the finish. I'm not sure why this is, as I've cleaned out the gas tube thoroughly once I noticed the damage being done, yet it still seems to be occurring. Here's a couple pics: The other issue this gun has is a very poorly fitting safety lever/receiver cover. View the images below and the problem is obvious. Yes, the lever is locked into its upper detent

So, Shellshock1918, what do you think of the CAA M4-style collapsible? I may go with that one down the road a bit, but I'm not spending $200+ on a stock. -
Well.. my gun's SN is H0843xxxx It's 25/500 according to the box. It has 3 ports, 2 of which, (the 2 closest to the muzzle), are just barely obstructed if at all, (it's really difficult to tell). I'll run a few dozen shells through her tomorrow and see if she's a candidate for warranty work.

Thanks man. I think she's damn purdy too. She performs amazingly well also. This SGL20's the finest made and smoothest operating AK I've ever personally handled, much less owned. I'm very happy I made the choice to go with this model. Her parts are perfectly fitted and very high quality, as well as mil-spec in every respect other than selective fire. I really appreciate the 24x1.5mm RH threaded barrel, forward mounted bayo lug, and perfect dimples. She's got zero mag wobble, even with beat-up combloc steel mags, and her irons are dead-on, with a perfectly centered front sight. I could -

because the quality is questionable at best... you have a really nice rifle and to see that stock on it is kind of blah.. but hey if YOU like it.. thats all that matters.. Well, I'm using it for now, really because I already own it. I still have a lot of stuff to buy in the next 1-2 months that is higher priority than another stock for the SGL20. After I've got all the 7.62 ammo, mags, and accessories for my S-12 that I want, I'll think about buying a replacement stock for the SGL20. In the meantime I'll get to see how well this Tapco stock holds up. On a related note, what -

oh wtf, take that tapco crap off. :ded: Sure, soon as you send me a couple hundred dollars for a better collapsible stock. I installed the Tapco stock cause that's what I bought a few months ago, originally for a GP WASR 10/63 that I have since sold. I couldn't return it, so why not use it? -

Here are a couple pics of my SGL20 with Tapco T6 collapsible stock installed, also pics of her alongside the Rock River M4: -
Do what'cha want man, but I finally got around to mounting my Tapco T6 collapsible on my Arsenal SGL20 last night, and I gotta tell ya, this thing is a lot sturdier than I thought it was. I thought it was all polymer, but there's a fair bit of aluminum in it, (damn thing broke one of my drill bits). I'm very pleased with this stock, especially for the price. It's solid and should hold up very well.

imo ultimak co-witness > all Of course that's your opinion. That's what's on your rifle. I haven't yet decided between a Russian Kobra MRD or a LaRue AK Irondot. Either way, it'll have to wait till next paycheck, as 2k 7.62 rounds and S-12 conversion parts had priority.

Where is all the 7.62x39 ammo....Help a brother out!
shades_of_grey replied to Mr Smith's topic in Saiga 7.62 X 39
ha ha ha... good one... or you'd be a homeless beggar lookin' to the gub'ment to provide all the necessities you're 'entitled' to. I believe that www.the-armory.com also has some wolf 7.62x39 HP right now. http://www.the-armory.com/shopsite_sc/stor...62x39_ammo.html Yep, looks like it. They also want ~$0.35 per round, (or more if you buy less than 500 rnds). Ouch. -

Do you think the Saiga will be banned?
shades_of_grey replied to chabanais's topic in Saiga 7.62 X 39
Oh, I don't think he'll announce it next week or anything, but under King Barry's heel we all know that a new, more draconian "AW"B is coming, (with no sunset this time). Remember that B.H. Obama voted more than once to charge citizens in Illinois with manslaughter for defending themselves from intruders in their own homes with legally purchased firearms. He also supported the DC handgun ban before the Supreme Court struck it down. King Barry clearly opposes the idea of a free and armed populace. Citizens are much more difficult to turn into mere subjects if they're armed. Every 2 -
That's true. But of course the Tech Sights guys don't have Stalin holding a gun to the backs of their heads, (by proxy), as Kalashnikov almost certainly did. That's a hell of a motivator right there.

I bought it from a TX gunshop through gunbroker. Try searching there. You should be able to find one for ~$950. -

Thanks for posting, the unit look great! You should get the German "Zig-Zag" 74 brake for it though. Copes has them. Isn't that break only for 5.45 rifles? Hope not!!! Roger has an account over on theakforum Ill PM him. Well, I mean it specifically says "for AK-74 rifles"... So does the description for the brake I currently have on the rifle, (from combathunting.com). It works just fine for 7.62. I tend to suspect that "AK74" muzzle brakes, unless they are sold with a 5.45 rifle, will work with either 7.62 or 5.45. It'd be much easier to produce a brake big enough -

^ Oooooh, I like! If I were going to buy another Saiga, it'd definitely be a .308. Unfortunately I don't exactly have the cash atm.. probably spent about $2k on weapons and ammo over the last 2 months, which, unfortunately, is a lot for me.
