1. That light cover includes brick and cinderblock walls; which 5.56 cannot penetrate.
2. I don't have a '11 S-12, but my current '08 and another I've owned both have the raised area for the handguard screw, FOURBUX.
3. Thanks for being so honest with me, Arik. You're just confirming what I decided late last night after a very knowledgable guy on the akfiles gave me the run-down of everything he thought I should do if I wanted to do anything... going to extraordinary lengths to make her look Russian rather than Bulgarian. What I realized is.. she is Bulgarian, and pretty fucking sweet as is. I decided that I should just leave her be and appreciate her "Bulgarianness" rather than trying to maker her into something she's not. It also didn't help that I had a line on a primo matching Russian furnitu
4. I'll probably skip the bluing and new selector marks. I'm not trying for that level of authenticity, (imo the marks are pointless unless it's a display piece only, and bluing is inferior to park n paint). I have located a new set of unissued Russian type 3 furniture, but the owner's not sure if he wants to part with it for anything other than the blonde set I've got now. If I can buy it from him, I probably will, but I want to keep the blonde set in reserve.
5. if he does a good job on the fsb i highly doubt it will hurt the resale, if anything it will increase it i agree hammer, but theres always the assholes that wont pay what something is worth if it does not have the factory original parts. me, i would consider this as an upgrade if anything. Capt; you do realize that I'm replacing the "ban style" "de-fanged" Bulgarian fsb with one that's identical except for the unmolested "fangs", (used to secure a bayo on a 47 type 3), right? The work will be done exceptionally well, and the new fsb is just that.. a new part. I think a "de-
6. Hello all, I recently acquired a SA M-7 Classic, as detailed in my other recent thread. Here're a few current, (and possible "before"), pics: Now, what I'm thinking of doing is having the bolt carrier polished while she's at the 'smith having the fsb replaced with one that has bayo "fangs".. so that it'd look something like this: Then, I'm considering a furniture change to something like that on the above rifle as well, for better contrast with the polished bolt carrier and to better resemble a Russkie type 3. There's some great stuff available at rusmi
7. 7.62x39, for the same reasons I gave in that other, nearly identical thread started by zombiemilitia. (cheaper ammo, cheaper mags, more fun than .223)
8. Get the 7.62x39. It's cheaper than .223, mags for it are much more abundant and cheaper, and perhaps most importantly; you'll have more fun with it.
9. What was the "hated" firearm you traded in?
10. Or, you can buy one from Atlantic for ~$1,989. Don't feel too badly for "that poor guy"; he's the one who set the price and I agreed to pay it.. didn't haggle or nothin.
11. You get anywhere near my Classic with power tools or a file and I'll shoot you with one of my other rifles.
12. I'dve stopped short of modding my rear sight block to make that sort of fit. ymmv.
13. Nice lookin rifle, Darth Saigus. I got into Kalashnikovs too late to get some decently priced quality Galils and Valmets.
14. I've considered that. If I did so, it would be as much to preserve the original blonde furniture as anything, because I do love the blonde look. I might also strategically stress the finish to give it that BFPU character to go along with the brown/red furniture. I still haven't fired her... bout 95% sure I'll do so tomorrow. I don't think I can let her remain a safe queen, when she's likely the most accurate 7.62x39 AK I own.
15. Are you under the misapprehension that typing in all bold somehow makes your opinion more valid? That shit's one step away from posting in all caps. Please show us your 2" @ 500 yrd groups, shot with the .308 of your choice.
16. Y'know I don't think I've ever heard of a dissatisfied SA M-7 owner. That's kind of remarkable.
17. The 308 AK is accurate compared to WHAT? I'd pit my M70 Winchester bolt action against a 308 AK ANYDAY. Please. The 308 is a fantastic round, has great range/power, etc... but is is best used in a pricision weapon (which the AK is NOT). So, you have an AK in 308 with limited mag capacity, heavy rounds which are bulky (so you're not carrying many), and for what?... mediocre accuracy? No thanks. It is true that 308 is the round of choice for snipers (for good reason. It reaches out and HARD). Do you see any AK sniper rifles? I don't. I see M70's, 700's, Barrets (although they're known for the .
18. Nah, the seller just bought it several years ago, (before they'd appreciated in value so much), and priced it for around what he paid back then. He didn't bother to see what her current market value was before offering her for sale; and I was glad to meet his asking price, before I'd even seen pics, (couldn't wait on this one). Carpe armorum!
19. Haha.. thanks for the offer, Squishy, but if I were desperate for $; I'd sell all my furniture, my electronics, my tools, my blood n semen, and all my other guns before I parted with the SA M-7. Yeah, my "deal-wood" has lasted about ~72 hrs now. On a side-note; don't use e-clips, use hitch-pins.
20. Yep. Imagine this rifle with a 20" barrel... It'd be just plain wrong, on a few different levels.
21. Thanks, Spartacus. If I had to carry it slung all day, every day, I'd still prefer a SGL21 to the SA M-7. I did sell one to fund the Classic, but I've got more. It'll be interesting to shoot em side-by-side and compare their accuracy. I expect the SA M-7 to be more accurate.. but by how much remains to be seen.
22. Thank you, sir. Haha.. you ain't kiddin. For this price, I committed to buying it, (had to get first dibs), before I'd figured out how to best absorb the cost. I ended up selling one of my SGL Saigas locally to cover it, so it was almost like a trade, one I did pretty well on.
23. evl, that is one impressive, little flame-throwing bitch you've got there. Nicely done, sir!!
24. So, one fine night just over a week ago, I was still up and crusing the forums at ~3am. That's when I saw a new ad: "Arsenal SA M-7 for sale". I figured I surely couldn't afford it, but I've wanted one for years. So, I went ahead and read the details of the ad. Lo and behold, the seller was advertising an unfired, (since the factory test rnds), SA M-7 Classic, (semi-auto AK-47 type III), with an asking price of.... $850 + shipping. No one had replied yet, but this was on the akfiles marketplace, which is heavily trafficked, so I knew I didn't have much time. I posted "I'll take it.
