  1. Thanks for the info guys. I'm headed back out tomorrow and I'll give your advice a try.
  2. So I went out shooting sporting clays Saturday for the first time. 13 stations, 50 clays total and I hit 24. I'm happy with those results since I wasn't expecting to hit over 15 or so my first time out. I've got the poly choke II on my Saiga 12 and had it set on modified based on advice from one of the guys I was shooting with. After we finished, he made the comment that he should have changed his choke to a full choke on some of the stations where the clays were farther out. Is this sound advice? Does anyone have a general rule of what choke they use at certain distances? I think th
  3. If you have any woodworking skills, you could make a "inside the wall" gun safe. It's what I'm planning on doing. Just cut the drywall from between two studs, build a case that fits inside the studs, install a lock with a fingerprint door lock, and finally, add some trim and paint to make it look nice. The reason for the fingerprint lock is so that you don't need to find a key when someone's broken into your house. Just swipe your finger and the lock opens. And only the fingerprints you register in the lock will open it.
  4. Thanks. I took it off the barrel and used a clamp (as hogdog suggested) to hold it while I turned it some and it seems to have loosened up some. I'll have to try the oil technique. Sounds like that's what it needs.
  5. That has got to be one of the.... strangest things I have ever read. Being an avid skeet and sporting clays shotgunner myself, if you purchased a Saiga semi-auto magazine fed shotgun to shoot skeet with..... I think you might have bigger challenges than merely figuring out how to work the PolyChoke on your barrel. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Okay... my apologies. I just couldn't pass this up. Thanks for the helpfull information Gary. You sure know how to make a noob feel good. mlm
  6. I don't thomk it's a problem with the threads, but a problem with the choke choking. Will I hurt it if I try to turn it when it's off the barrel?
  7. Here's mine, a Plano Protector: Got it at Dick's Sporting Goods for $20.
  8. Hi all. The main reason I got my Saiga is to shoot skeet. So, after reading the forums, I bought myself a Poly Choke II. I'v got it threaded tightly on the barrel but when I try to adjust it, it just lossens it self or tightens itself on the barrel depending on the direction I turn it. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong and the instruction sheet that came with it doesn't help. Can anyone give me some direction/help? Thanks, NCGrimbo
  9. Thanks for the quick responses. Look for a PM from me.
  10. HI all. I'm a total newbie when it comes to guns of any kind. I spent some time looking at various shotguns and decided on the S12 based on a lot of information from this forum. And, the gun just looks cool when the magazine is loaded. I've only shot a shotgun once in my life and that was over 20 years ago. I know how to load the shells in the S12 and I know not to look down the barrell when the gun is loaded. I know how to point the gun and how to pull the trigger. Beyond that, I'm in the dark. I'd like to know if there's anyone in North Carolina that is willing to spend so
