  3. Don't take me the wrong way. I'm not trying to be negative toward anyone. That being said... I don't agree. I've converted one .308, two 7.62x39s, and two Saiga 12s. The .308 took the longest to complete out of all of them. It's my opinion that there are also less after market/conversion parts for the .308 than the 12 or 7.62x39. You can buy the .308 and the 7.62x39 that already have grip nut holes from the factory, so that's not really a selling point. The trigger guard is harder to figure out on the .308, and even the premade trigger guards take more work to install on the .308. M
  4. Kvar sells a loose heat shield for around $5.00.
  5. Has anyone tried the new metal mags offered at One Source Tactical? They come in 10 and 20. The price doesn't seem to bad. I would like to know about the quality. I can't find who makes them.
  6. When I was converting my .308, I tried to vent the hand guard. I had already done it on my 7.62 just fine. I drilled a little lower on the front end of the .308 handgaurd, and to my suprise, I couldn't get through it. I ruined a few drill bits trying. It had a metal liner. So before you do too much experimenting, maybe check to see if the stock hand guard already has a liner/heat shield. Maybe use a magnet. It seems like if you put a heat conducting material (duct metal) inside your handguard, you're just adding one more object to collect heat. On the other hand, if you could do a fi
  7. Like the last guy said, no. It doesn't line up quite right. If you want something similar, Saigatech offers a trigger guard for the 7.62. Or, when you rip off the metal plate fromt the bottom of the gun, there should be the standard AK grip nut hole. You can get a standard ak grip nut (tapco has them as a set with the standard AK grip bolt). Then you could just attach a stardard AK grip, or with a new bolt and a washer a different style grip.
