  1. Yeah, it's amazing how when you ask for help you just get flogged!! LOL This type of conversion isn't that bad and to each his own. Like "ScoutJoe" said, it allows for return to standard fixed stock - especially if you have not yet decided on a permanent look for your rifle. So we should sell the rifle we already own and buy one with the "PROPER" underfolder? Think not! Thanks for the help ScoutJoe!!
  2. The grip nut on my conversion hit the inside bottom of the CAA grip and wouldn't tighten completely, leaving play as you described. A little work withy the dremel tool deepened the recess. If you go this route, check the thickness of the stock in the grip before removing any material.
  3. Hi, Wondered in anyone has used this external trunnion to mount a Yugo-type, single pin lock underfolder?
  4. Have one on my latest 7.62 conversion but not on my 410. You can easily feel the difference. Worth it since you are in there if you are doing a conversion and easy if your conversion is already done. Will be installing one on my 410 soon.
  5. I think I am qualified to speak to this question. As a person new to Saigas, I know how easy it is to get caught up in the whole conversion thing. It is easy to double (or more!) the investment in your gun. Some folks only want an inexpensive, reliable and fun shooter while others get a lot of joy out of planning the look they want, searching for the parts and doing the conversion. That's me. I am not doing it with the intention of being able to turn an immediate profit. Won't happen. My reason is for the long haul. Personal satisfaction for me and something to pass along to my 26 yr. old son
  6. I'll second the recommendation of the CAA AK 47 grip. Just installed one during my X39 conversion. Got the Tapco grip first and didn't like it. Greg at CSS is great to work with and has personal experience using his products on his own weapons. As another poster said, each of us has our preferences as to look and feel. Nothing is really a bad choice.
  7. Death_Delirium, I have one I will mail to you. If interested, send me a PM with address and I will put it in the mail.

    hamer question.

Yeah, just like Presto said, if everything is aligned, you must press down slightly and it will go in.
  9. IMHO, a 410 is a good choice for HD but, just like everything else, you will find many opinions. I wanted something that will be effective at close range and not take out someone in the next room/house and the 410 fits perfectly. Besides, it is one fun shotgun. Price seems good but I have not shopped lately and there has been some downward movement in prices.
  10. Prices have dropped just a little recently and/or some dealers are offering special incentives such as free shipping. I just bought a Saiga 7.62 X 39 for $349 which included free shipping and no sales tax since it was an internet purchase. Paid my FFL dealer $25 to register it - the going price in my area. To me, this was a very good deal. Paid more than that for my Saiga 410 shotgun a few months ago and didn't get free S&H. Unless something really unusual happens, I don't think you will see much more of a drop in prices. There is some speculation prices for Saigas might go up with the cur
  11. As a former 59 year resident of MerryLand, you need to move across the line into good old West, by God, Virginia. We know how to treat gun owners here!
  12. I agree, couldn't easily distinguish between "Stickied" threads and regular threads. Also agree with "Too much white". Otherwise OK. All changes usually need a few tweaks to bring them up to snuff.
  13. Depends on the style you want. Below is a link to ones offered by Carolina Shooters Supply. Greg is very helpful with phone inquiries. My personal choice was the last one listed - the vertical ergo grip. It is very solid and has a battery compartment in it. I added added the SGM Tactical Gen 2 Forearm to my 410 so I had something that would hold the grip. I am very pleased with the outcome! http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/se...es?sfs=f497b8d3
  14. Coils, thanks for the reply. Seems what you get varys from shipment to shipment.
  15. No one except me has bought a 410 in the past few months??
  16. Hi, Just got my new S-410 earlier this week (Arms of America). From what I had been reading on the forum, I was expecting to get the "0" thread protector but the shotgun came with a #3 full choke. That's fine with me as it saves me from having to buy one. Production date looks to be 12/08. I ordered a few parts for minor mods and will do the major stuff later on. Thanks to all the great help on the forum, I feel pretty confident in my ability to do the conversions and have just about settled on the way I want my S-410 outfitted. Sure does add to the cost of the shotgun but will be a lot o
  17. I have used products from this manufacturer for my M1 Garand and the quality and design is outstanding. Don't really know if what you got is from them or another similar manufacturer. http://www.olongapooutfitters.com/index.php
  18. W/o the CA factor, I would recommend a 410. Seems to fit your needs perfectly. There are pump action brands of 410s that would be legal in CA.
  19. Thanks guys!! Got a phone call from Andrew late this afternoon advising that the shipment had arrived and that the S-410 would be shipped ASAP. I have spent a lot of time the past two weeks reading posts on this forum and have learned a lot from you guys. Thanks! Now for the fun of learning about the S-410 and deciding on how I will modify my gun. Already have a pretty good idea of what I want to do, thanks to the great pics and vendor list.
  20. Thanks for the feedback. I ordered an S-410 from them a couple of weeks ago and they have been promising delivery for more than a week now but nothing has shipped. Just wanted to get a feel for their dependability as a dealer. Guess they are at the mercy of the supplier, like many other businesses.
  21. Wondering if anyone has purchased a Saiga from Arms of America and how the deal went? Thanks!!
