    What Would Zardoz Do??
  1. Start with the Pinned section in 'Saga .410' called 'Different Shell Sizes'. Read the directions that came with the gun or use the size that is stamped on the gun. The Saga 410 was truly designed to work with Russian ammo (Silver Bear, Golden Bear). Shotgun ammo, esp .410 ammo is to varied to expect reliability out of the box. Use ammo that others on the forum have had good luck with. If you want to increase reliability using different types of ammo on your Saga .410, you will have to modify or tune your gun.
  2. So I must have "Rip Van Winkled" on this. The last time I logged in or posted was August... "and what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a" .410 Drum and 30 rounds down range. Finally, just what I asked Santa for for the last few years. Greg from CSS has mine on the way. Unless Shannon has one already, maybe I could bring it out and we could run it through its paces.
  3. Here is the Link. There are a few links with in that post as well. I would ask for a stickie, but it is kind of un-organized. Would be better served to start over as a DIY, but may get in trouble because it is a brand (SGM, Surfire) specific modification (kind of like asking why there is no .410 drum). I did a pretty good write up on the 2 1/2" factory mags that deserves a stickie.
  4. I already did a post, but it must be older than a year.... I can't find it on my profile on the forum. I will look harder. They were based on my FTF problems. You can take a look at My Gallery for some other good photos.
  5. Modified my feed lips. See photos. Kind of like a hair cut.... you can take some off, but you can't put it back on.
  6. Use Google Translate for English. Excellent write-up.
  7. Try this link: Gas Regulator Adjustment General settings are #2 for Light Loads, and #1 for Magnum Loads. Beyond that, your gun may need some tuning to the gas system. You could try an aftermarket gas plugs that has up to 5 settings. Pretty much if it is cycling you should be looking at it with an "if it ain't broke" perspective.
  8. (Duplicate; sorry replied to his most current post) You will have to be more specific. Jam is good on toast too. Is the problem a failure to feed? or Is the problem a failure to eject? We may also need specifics on the ammo and the mags. First thing is; unless you have a 2 1/2 inch mag, you should only be using the 3 inch rounds. Saiga .410 is a great gun. It was the first adaptation of an AK to the shotgun platform. Shotgun ammo comes in all sizes especially power, like magnum etc. It's nearly impossible to find a semi-auto shot gun that doesn't have problems with

  10. Sounds like New Jersey has some "controls" over ammo as well, especially when it comes to buying ammo at "Brick & Mortar" locations (Stores). This NJ law enacted April 1, 2008: "2C:58-3.3 "Handgun ammunition" defined; sale, purchase, etc., regulated; violation, fourth degree crime. 1. a. As used in this act, "handgun ammunition" means ammunition specifically designed to be used only in a handgun. "Handgun ammunition" shall not include blank ammunition, air gun pellets, flare gun ammunition, nail gun ammunition, paint ball ammunition, or any non-fixed ammunition. b.No person sh
  11. My two cents. Besides the topic you have already seen about the back of the mag. You may have one of two (or both) problems. 1. The mag follower on my 15 rd Surefire's seems to have a slightly elevated upward angle at the front, especially with just one round in the mag. 2. If you over load the mag (or max it out) the round on the bottom (or last round) gets crushed and deformed so it doesn't feed properly. I have heard of this happening especially if you pre-load them and let them sit a while in the mag before you get out to shoot. Try it with the metal hulls, they are less li
  12. No, not using the .44 mag one I got.

You may need to be more specific about how or were you want to mount it. For the stock mounted side rail try: MAA CSS or others, like Cheaper Than Dirt. If you want to mount it otherwise there are hand guard rails, barrel mount rails, bolt cover rails etc.
  14. I am "one of the ones" (shortened barrel) Cobra is referring to. Cobra does excellent work and knows the .410's. From my limited knowledge of the Saiga .410, it was the first AK based shotgun, meant for hunting wild Bore in Russia. Reliability from the factory was based on the non-"Sportsman" or non-US version of the trigger group and the use of the 3 " magnum, metal hulled, Russian ammo. Any variations in ammo or novice changes and conversions (or building) to the gun, will effect reliability. Polishing, tuning etc, will all help reliability. Just make sure it's done right.
  15. I got my Sightmark .44 MAG Chamber Bore Sight (I may do a separate post w/ photos). The first thing I notice is it has no rim or lip like the .44 Mag round I have, it's just smooth all the way. I tried it for fit in my .410 without the batteries and it slipped in fairly easily. It went past the edge of the barrel some. I was afraid I was going to lose it in there, but it fell back out when I pointed the barrel up. I measured it with my micrometer against the .44 Mag round and a spent Golden Bear hull. Of course the bore sight is the same as the .44 Mag round I have (.456 inches). The Golden Be
