  1. Forgot to mention that the range was 25 yards. Sighted in my Bushnell Trophy 1x conventionally.
  2. When I sighted my .410 for slugs, I noticed that my iron sights worked well for birdshot, but slugs were hitting up and to the left of center quite a bit. Like 6" left and 9" up, or something like that. Does that mean that a bore sight would not be so helpful. I have the 19" barrel, Dinzag '74 style brake, brenneke silvers.
  3. I guess I'm not surprised that the clerk didn't know the law. Maybe I will give them a call to let them know to do a little more training at the gun counter. I normally get ammo shipped to me in NY anyway. NY can't be that far behind, what with some lawmaker wasting $$ coming up with crap like this. Criminals will never have trouble getting ammo, only the regular guy gets pinched. Just noticed on my Cheaper Than Dirt catalog that they will no longer ship ammo to California...
  4. Was in NJ over the holidays, went into the sport shop to pick up some shells for my saiga; needed some #4's for our persistent raccoon problem and some more brenneke silver slugs. Had all my stuff picked out when the clerk remembered there was a new law that any ammo that can be used in a pistol now requires either a carry permit or some other NJ permit. Basically, because of the Judge, I couldn't buy 'em. I live in NY so I guess we can see what is coming on the horizon. Ridiculous!
  5. Tony that looks Damn Nice. Unbelievable what you guys are doing with these!
  6. Jeremy, if you are looking to take deer, I can vouch for the .410 Saiga, 3" Brenneke Magnum slugs... inside of 30 yards or so... Bushnell red dot... hooves up! Neighbors I'm sure prefer it to the 12 gauge cannon. And the lightning fast follow ups that are possible allowed me to grab a "two-fer" last year. Love the saiga for it's versatility on the farm: birds, rabbit, raccoons, deer. Check. Have fun in whatever u decide. Tom
  7. I think it's awesome you guys are working to advance the ballistics for the .410! Keep up the good work.
  8. It may need a bit of persuasion. Use a brass punch if you have one to protect the metal. You may also need to put a little oil on the sight to help loosen it up. Russianblood- Oiled, brass punched and moved just a bit. Now to sight it in again. This will all be moot when my Bushnell trophy red dot shows up later this week.
  9. Gunclinger- really appreciate your post. I'm thinking to keep the range under 50 yards with 3" brenneke's. Thanks again.
  10. Russianblood- yes it's dovetailed in, but a heavy tap is not budging it at all. Hit it harder? Thanks for the advice.
  11. My 2 SF 10 rounders have worked well with american 3" mags for what it's worth even if there's a bit of wobble to them. Definitely have the same frustration about not knowing what loads will and will not work. I'm sort of thinking I could modify them to display the shells forward a bit and shoot 2.5" shells (I bought a case of target loads for the trap range and did not get the 4 shot 2.5" mag!!!) Or just pick up the factory 4 rd mag....
  12. Good tips on the slugs... should load up myself at that price. How do these compare ballistically to the Brenneke's that I'm shooting and would you think it's cruel to pop small to medium sized deer at 25 yards with .410 slugs or should I just let my winnie stainless 12 gauge do it? I am absolutely loving my new gun, even though the factory iron sights shoot 10" left and about 1.5" high at 25 yards (!!!) Actually sort of shocked at how "off" the gun could be (especially with non adjustable sights). Gotta get me the AK style front sight and/or rails and scope. Any advice along thes
  13. Got 2 surefire 10 rounders with my new saiga .410. Of course was bummed right off the bat that 2.5 inchers do not feed at all with these mags, as they jam up there with out feeding. Dammit So I single loaded a few #9's (just bought a whole box of these for clays !%#@!) and some Remington sluggers (2.5" also). Thankfully i had some 3" winchester loads on hand so i could pop a couple off. So once I get the right ammo on hand maybe i'll be ready to go. I'm thinking the 5 pel 000 buck should operate smoothly in the surefires as well as some Brenneke's. Anyone reloading +P slu
  14. Just got mine yesterday, but yet to venture into the 20 or 12 gauge version. Just having a little fun so far. Sort of impressed with the performance of some Winchester 2.5" sluggers on a phone book and some wood, although from what i've read, I should stick with my 12 gauge for deer (even the smallish deer that are overstocked in our neck of the woods???) Gotta get me some brenneke .410's and find out.
