  1. Damn, that looks real good. Did you add the rail on the lower HG or did it come like that?
  2. I'm wanting to swap out the Vepr factory handguard for something different. I'm just wondering if a Bulgarian AK-74 gas tube would fit.
  3. Well, Silver Bear 5.45x39 is boat tail, which I didn't realize until I looked more closely at the box. I'm not sure about SB 7.62x39 though, I've never bought any. I don't know why the 5.45 would be boat tail and not the 7.62.
  4. 7.62x39. I saw some Brown Bear in the typical 500 and 1k rd. cases at SG Ammo. Then I saw some 700 rd. Brown Bear mil-spec spam cans. Just wondering what the difference is, if any. Wow,great info! Thanks.
  5. The mil-spec generally costs more, but is there really all that much difference between the two? Is the mil-spec loaded hotter or something?
  6. I know it was the Wolf Military Classic (not WPA) for a while. Then I think it was the Tula. Is that still the case? Anybody know for sure?
  7. I thought you needed a special type of barrel to shoot steel shot? Won't it tear up a regular barrel?
  8. Does it have any functionality as a flash hider or muzzle brake or is it just for looks?
  9. That's crazy. It's seems like shot would be hitting the inside of the brake for sure, especially one that long, but I guess not.
  10. That thing is bad to the bone dude! I want those handguards. Where did you get that sling? I wonder why they are only importing them in 5.56?
  11. I have been watching a little of Shark Week off and on. I've also been watching Shart Week on CC.
  12. Can you legally hunt with 5.45x39? (deer or hogs for instance) I know some states require that hunters use at the very least a .22 caliber. Isn't 5.45x39 technically a .21 caliber? Obviously you wouldn't hunt deer with something like .22LR though. I'm pretty sure that's illegal everywhere because it's considered inhumane.
  13. FMJ in this caliber is already designed to tumble and makes a rather nasty wound channel, so really what's the point of HP ammo? (or SP for that matter)
  14. I think you're right. I tried what you suggested and the oil doesn't get drawn in. Great idea BTW, glad I thought of it.

    Normal?

I noticed something on my new Vepr when installing the bg the other day that has me a little concerned. On the front trunnion, there is a line that starts about 2" in, from the rear, and goes to just under where the gas tube starts. It's hard to tell if it's just a surface scratch or something deeper. I'm hoping to God it's not a crack! My Saigas don't have this in that area. Maybe Molot uses a different machining method that causes that mark on the trunnion. At least I'm hoping it's something like that. Anyone else's Vepr have this mark on the front trunnion?
  16. What size did you eventually drill/tap it that worked?
  17. Could I possibly drill it out with a smaller or same size bit? Then, pick up where I left off (so to speak) with a fresh 6/32 tap, so I don't have to go buy a bigger tap and screw?
  18. I just snapped a tap on my 5.45, SOB! So, what did you guys do to remove/extract the broken taps?
  19. Here's one on a Vepr .308. I'm trying to install it on a Vepr 5.45. I don't know how much difference there is between the two, if any. Of course, the Saiga .308 and 5.45 are a little different.
  20. I know there is a way to get this handguard to fit a Vepr. Does anyone know how exactly? Do you use the Vepr factory screw or Tapco screw to attach the front of the handguard to the bottom of the barrel? Any other mods I need to do? Thanks in advance.
  21. Racking the bolt a few times seemed to do the trick, It is still very tight though.
  22. Man,this thing is INSANELY stiff ! Is there a special way you have to do it compared to any other AK?
