  4. Is there a way to thread a Saiga-12 barrel and the step down portion in front of the thread without the use of a lathe? I know that CSS sells the factory Die set, but I want to ad the step down as well to reproduce what the factory does on their barrels. I have two SBS'd S-12's that I would like to do this to and I want to do it myself without the use of a lathe.
  5. I have painted the whole gun in some cases, but I've also done them where only the receiver required refinishing after the trigger holes were welded and the conversion was complete. Personaly, I like to keep the factory finish on the gun as much as possible, and if the reciever is the only peice needing to be refinished, than why not do that and leave the rest of the finish intact? Especially on a brand new gun that runs without having to fiddle fu%k the gas block off in order to expose/open the gas ports.
  6. I've been using an indoor outdoor flat black laquer paint from Ace hardware, and the finish matchest almost exactly to the factory finish on the Saiga-12. The brand is Ace harware and Ace aparently manufactures it themselves. I like it because it's durable and the color match is so close that I can't tell the differance. I recently used some of the Duplicolor lowgloss black on an S-12 coversion and I did'nt like the color match as well. It's not as dark as the Saiga-12 finish and it looks more like a dark charcoal than flat black. The Ace harware indoor outdoor laquer does a much better job an
  7. I'll say it again, NRA needs to take this 922r Bullsh%t to court and have it repealed! Sporting purpose has nothing to do with the citizens right to own any firearm.
  8. I'm in Pompano and I've done a number of conversions for KGB Armament. I shoot the Malabar subgun match, the Markham Park steel match, and I recently shot the SOF three gun match in Okeechobee. There is a steel match in Cleweston that just got under way, and I hear they are going to include the shotgun as well. I also go to Markham Park on Wednsdays at 5:00 PM to shoot Saiga-12. PM me if you need some info on the conversion or if you experience any reliability issues.
  9. I thinkit's pretty obvious that both trigger gards have been used since there are photo's of both on this model S-12K. Either way, It looks like you are staying faithfull to the factory specs which I appreciate and respect. I too use the akbuilder S-12K trigger gards on my conversions, in order to keep with the correct look and feel of a true factory Saiga-12K. I also stay away from all the after market stocks and PG's that only serve to make a Saiga-12 look like it wants to be an AR-15 when it grows up. Keep up the good work in reproducing factory correct Saiga-12's.
  10. Your gas ports should not have to be anywhere near .093 on a four port 19" barrel. I have another 2011 S-12 that I just cut down myself to 17" on a Form 1 and the gas ports are still at the factory .063. I also did what you did by opening up the gas block to expose all four ports. I was very suprized to see the gun run low brass without as much as a hickup. However, not all guns are the same, because I had to go to .076 on my 16" four port, but it all starts with the gun being properly gassed. That's my 2 cents.
  11. It sounds to me like you may have drilled your gas ports way too big, and that could be the reason for the excessive fouling that you are experiencing. I speak from experience, because I had the same thing happen to an S-12 I sent out to be SBS'd on a Form 1. Long story short, I sent the gun back to the SOT, and he installed a new 2011 16" barrel with four ports at .063, which I then opened up myself to .076. The end result, is no more fouling and the gun runs properly on both gas settings. You could try running about 150 rounds to see if it forms a plastic biscuit on the gas puck. If it does,
  12. I've said it before and I'll say it again. THIS 922 R BULLSHIT NEEDS TO BE REPEALED! And fuck all the parasites who dont want this bullshit law repealed in regards to the money they'll lose on conversions! Fucking Carpetbaggers!
  13. Yeah, these matches are a lot of fun. I've been doing them since about 2004 and I've been addicted ever since. In addition, the Saiga -12 has really got a hook in me, and it's become my favorate weapon to shoot in competition. I totally look forward to our three gun matches with the shotgun so I can run my Saiga-12 K. Thanks for the reply Topmaul.
