  1. And my pants are now around my ankles.... Damn that is beautiful! I've been wanting to SBS my 12 but I didn't really like the look of most. I want something that looks "factory" and with a triangle folder. Your build fits the bill perfectly. I can't imagine that folder is going to be comfortable to shoot for long periods though. Maybe put a GP-30 launcher pad on it? If you have time would you might throwing together a quick guide on what you did and mention any gotcha's? I would like to do this one of these days. Congrats on the build, looks awesome.
  2. Straight from the horses mouth...
  3. I'd get some shooting glasses if you don't have some already... and WEAR them.
  4. Interesting build... pretty cool though, thanks for the pics. Are you left or right handed? Just curious as to why the mod...
  5. Hell yeah! These are fun aren't they? You just need a nice recoil pad, to find a good spot to shoulder that thing, and lean into it a little. Just takes some getting used to but I love feeling that blast. I use a standard grenade launcher recoil pad... works well and helps spread the load evenly. They fit pretty snugly on a standard Kalashnikov buttstock. http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-363/AK47-Saiga-Orignal-Recoil/Detail
  6. Thanks for the comments chaps... The M44 was actually marked at $325 but I talked them down to $200. . Sure you can get a 91/30 for $60, but I wanted a carbine. The prices will probably keep going up so I'm glad I got it now. Here is a picture from my collection a few years ago... the Mosin in this pic was my friends and I fell in love with it the first time I shot it. I kind of want to get another Bushmaster M4A3 again, but the ammo is so expensive right now. Hopefully it will come back down in price, along with 7.62x39. But I can get a PSL for cheaper so i'm 95% su
  7. Got that loaded up I see! I like the stock... how solid is it? Also how did you patch up the old trigger holes? Cool table too BTW! Is that home made?
  8. Bought this slightly used S-12 in unmolested form about 3 months ago for $520 at a local gun shop. Already had researched and planned on converting it before buying... Got all my parts from dinzagarms.com which was a awesome one-stop-shop. I'm extremely happy with how well it turned out, and it wasn't a difficult mod at all with the dremmel. Hardest part was getting the BHO lever back in. Also got a few AGP gen-2 10-round mags which worked fine. Some 3 inch shells fit, some don't... I think the 3 inch Winchester Super-X fit fine. Already shot about 100 rounds through it. Tried a few differen
  9. I don't know... do these give you enough height? I think since the Saiga-12 doesn't really have a front trunnion raised over the height of the dust cover it might work so you can still use iron sights... http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=990185
  10. I bought all my conversion parts from Dinzag... so reprofiled hammer, retainer plate to replace the spring, trigger group, etc. only thing it didnt include was a modified BHO lever. I had to cut mine with a dremel to get the safety lever back in. But i'm glad I did it... no function problems, works great. I can attest it is a total PITA to reinstall it, it's funny the first time I did it I got it on the second try, but later I had to take everything apart and put it back together again, my second attempt at installing the BHO lever took probably 20 tries and a lot of swearing. But it
  11. So meaning what was the bolt hold open lever is now a bolt release lever? Ok whoever gets one of these first really needs to come tell us about it...
