  1. I've used Pandora for a long time, I even plug my phone into my car stereo and use it on the road. That being said I was out of town last month and tried GrooveShark. I like it a LOT better because you can select certain songs, Pandora just lets you choose a song or artist and it chooses like music for you. I don't think there is a mobile app for GrooveShark though.
  2. Well again a sincere "thank you" and good on ya for doing this for me and others. I was literally at my "witz end" with this one, glad you could give me my wits back! Moderators note: Thank you for the opportunity to be of service! Mike
  3. Sorry it has taken me som long to get back to this. If anyone remembers I was posting late last year about the complications I was having with my Saiga 12 cycling. This was after re-drilling the gas ports, polishing moving parts and a bunch of other things I tried to no avail. Mike took my shotgun on as a donar project. Through the process he kept me constantly updated on what was going on and answered all of my questions completely. Got my shotgun back VERY quickly and the work is excellent. He improved a lot on some stuff I had already done and a few other things I had not even thoug
  4. Ya as long as they share they share the same sentiment the ATF does regarding the parts of a shotgun. As is much of what we handle my state's regs were obviously not written with a magazine-fed shotgun in mind therefore leaving a "grey" area.
  5. Kansas only allows 3 shells. I live there. Put a plug in one or make one with AGP mag and slide on buttplate. KS Regulation No persons shall take migratory game birds: With a trap, snare, net, rifle, pistol, swivel gun, shotgun larger than 10 gauge, punt gun, battery gun, machinegun, fish hook, poison, drug, explosive, or stupefying substance; With a shotgun of any description capable of holding more than three shells, unless it is plugged with a one-piece filler, incapable of removal without disassembling the gun, so its total capacity does not exceed three shells.
  6. Ha ha awesome! I plan on doing that this year with quail and actually think it will be funny if a game officer questions me about upland-bird hunting with an AK....LOL As for the shell capacity issue I think KS allows 5 rds but I am not sure. If not I plan on fabricating a piece of wood or plastic into sections to put in the mag first that will hopefully act as a BHO as well. This way there is no question as to whether or not I am following the rules.
  7. Ok.. due to some perosnal issues I FINALLY got my shotgun sent out to Mike and it should be there today. Very much looking forward to having a "functioning" Saiga 12 and another big thanks for all the help!
  8. No way, not yet. Too many malfunctions, I would grab the pump first. But eventually I will!
  9. I have yet to try a recoil buffer at all. I have a shaved down one sitting around I used in my PSL for a time but never tried it on the Saiga. I did contact Mike and am making arrangements. It is a very generous offer and I really appreciate it, especially since I don't have very many posts on this forum. I mainly kept it related to my shotgun and didn't want to keep going on and on about my problems with it. Thanks to all for the advise, it is appreciated!
  10. No, I didn't do anything with the extractor, but that is a good idea. I will check it out, just tired of putting time and money into this thing!
  11. I don't think it is cycling far enough back to eject, what usually happensd is a fired shell is left jammed against the edges of the chamber.
  12. Which mags are you using? Which puck? Are you having issues wen using the Russian-5? Always baseline test with the factory 5. Mag issued do tend to occur one should keep an eye out for. If you're already at 3 @ .093, I wouldn't add any more gas personally. Factory 5 rd and promag 20 rd drum. I have the Tapco puck for .922 reasons. It ran almost flawlessly last time I shot it (original mag) but horrible the other day with both the 5 rd mag and the drum.
  13. I did the same thing to mine and it wouldn't even cycle reduced recoil buckshot or any of the cheap birdshot. I didn't mess with the 3 holes yet (they are just slightly smaller than .08") but I had Pauly work his glassbolt magic on the bolt and reprofiled it and now it cycles the value-pack cheap birdshot (even with my undersized gas holes). I couldn't believe the difference it made. Money well spent! If I had a dime for every time I've heard the same thing said after I worked my own "magic"..... It really does make a huge difference when it's done right. Guess I need to
  14. I did the work myself with my dremel. I didn't alter any profiles except that of the hammer on which I rounded the corners to ease the movement of the bolt over it. I was careful not to alter the hammer face.
  15. I am still having problems cycling cheap shotgun ammo. I have tried everything. Polished rails, hammer, bolt, bolt carrier, spring tube, everywhere else metal touches metal. I yanked the gas block and re-drilled the 3 holes to where they should be. It works pretty well with Federal 8 shot but I wan't some more versatility. All I can think of now is possibly shortening the recoil spring and adding a buffer pad to make sure it isn't beating up the gun. Has anyone ever done this, or have another suggestion or ideas? Thanks in advance.
  16. Good advise, when I get home today I will try that. AS of now I have been pulling the charging handle with my right hand and ackwardly reaching under with my left hand to push the BHO. I tried reaching through the trigger guard but that doesn't work so well. It sounds like with your method a small tab attached to the BHO would make this even easier. Thanks,
  17. Locking that damn bolt open is a real pain in the butt for us lefties. I considered getting one of the LRBHO kits but would much rather have a left handed option. I glanced at the assembly uesterday and am wondering if there is a posibility of cutting a new slot into the left side of the receiver and switching the internals so the lever is on the other side. It has been awhile since I did the conversion and I'm trying to picture things. Has anyone ever heard of this being done? I doubt it would be an option with a LRBHO lever but that would be even better. EDIT: I found somethi
  18. If your really struggling with those shells you might try some lighter 2 3/4 loads. But you may have problems with FTEs like a lot of Saigas do. If you can handle it do a good break in with what you have first.
  19. Looks good man, yeah not a hard conversion but not something you want to jump into either.
  20. Those jeweler's files are invaluable. I got mine for a few bucks at Harbor Freight on a whim and now they stay out on my gun bench.
  21. OK, shot yesterday and overall very happy with the results. I started out with Winchester 2 3/4 8 shot loads. The shotgun did much better but still had a FTE about one out of every 5 rounds. I then switched to Federal 2 3/4 7.5 shot loads. The gun did amazing, no problems at all. After that I switched to gas setting "1 "and tried Federal 3 inch slugs, which this gun LOVES. No problem at all. Finally I tried Remington 2 3/4 8 shot. Better than the Winchester but still had the occasional FTE. I shot about 100 rds through the gun yesterday of varying brands and the longer I sh
  22. I think I might have got the last one from Centerfire for 500 bucks. On a sidenote regarding KVAR; kind of glad I didn't order from them. I sen them an email asking about avaliability, projected avaliability as well as 3 or 4 technical questions about the shotgun I would expect a vendor to know. Weeks later after I had saved the money, ordered from Centerfire, received my S12 and modified it they wrote back "yes we have them". That was it.
  23. Strange, not the first time I have heard this. I really can't figure out how it would make a difference except for the fact that the original partially blocks the vent on the gas block that vents puc. I'll give it a shot, thanks!
  24. Thanks guys. I decided to go ahead and polish the receiver rails tonight as well. That was the last thing I could think to do before testing her out. I also hand cycle the action a bunch everytime I go downstairs for a smoke or whatever. I'll post the results Friday!
  25. In the meantime you can actually read the report, just google "ATF Stufy on the Importability of Certain Shotguns". I think they published it in January. Might clear some things up for you. Sorry for your wait!
