    Saiga12

The OP said he bought a "AAR Saiga 7.62." I assume he means 7.62x39. So the shotgun aspect doesn't matter to him. I did not read the calguns.net stuff in depth, but a cursory glance seemed to say some Saigas are banned by name, both others are not -- so it depends on who the importer is. And that some CA case law supports the legality of certian Saigas, but that local DA and prosocuting attorneys might still screw with you. I suggest the OP delve into calguns with a fine tooth comb to see what they think. Kalashnikov USA Saigas are banned by name. Others are not. Others would in
  2. I looked at Gilbert's Guns website, I saw a choke set for the .410, but not for the 12. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place? A link would be most helpful to compare factory choke costs. My solution would run somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 bucks plus or minus 5, and I'd probably want at least a dozen folks committed to buying 'em before I start cranking them out. Which, like I said, I wouldn't be able to do for a couple months anyhow, as the lathe is in storage while I'm pending a move.
  3. M22x.75, RH Why do you ask?
  4. I finally purchased a Saiga-12 about a year ago, and it's great. However, RAA doesn't seem to be importing any of the screw-on muzzle chokes, and to order them from the UK (the only place I've seen them available) seems prohibitively expensive. I have a pile of RemChokes for my 870, and was thus considering sitting down at the lathe and turning out a muzzle attachment that could take RemChokes for a Saiga 12. Shouldn't be too difficult, as it's only two threading operations and some boring. And RemChokes run only about 20 bucks each. My question is, would anyone else be interested in somet
  5. FBMG service, when I bought my Saiga-12, was superb. I'll go back again if I need any sort of evil black rifle or shotgun. However, they are the only distributor (that I know of) in the western part of the US for the Saigas, so they've probably got their hands full.
  6. They had those shipped into Fort Pierce? That city shares a border with Port St. Lucie, where the other import stamp is from. Curious-- I lived there for a while and never even known of any importers in Ft. Pierce, which is undeniably the worst hellhole I have ever had the mispleasure of living in, and where I had two hurricanes (Frances and Jeanne) hit me. What years were those companies importing?
  7. Ha, it actually fell only about six inches from my hand to my desk. The clip popped off, but the follower stayed in the mag body, so I only had the clip and the shells to go looking for. I tried the plier compression drill, but it's met with mixed success thus far. In any case, I'll probably throw the clip in some vise grips and compress it a little bit, and see how that works. I'm going to be buying acouple 10-rounders soon, so this won't be my only mag. Thanks for the suggestions and tips, all, and for keeping such an awesome forum up and going. --Ryan
  8. I rercently purchased a Saiga shotgun, and so far, the shotgun has treated my very well. However, the magazine has acted a bit strange. When fully loaded, the little metal clip on the back starts coming off the two very short plastic posts that hold it on. When I inadvertently dropped a mag, the clip separated entirely from the mag body, causing the shells to go flying about 3 feet in one direction and the mag a foot or two in another. While it has otherwise fed fine as long as it's in the gun, I'm sorta worried about my mag one day spontaneously disassembling itself. Anyone else had the
  9. Yeah, I just purchased mine a week or two ago, one of the shipment that just got here. Maybe not a rebate on the guns themselves, but perhaps FBMG could offer a discount on any purchase of the 10-round mags Correia & crew are rumored to have pre-ordered. That way, everybody wins. They get mags off their shelves at a profit, we get discounted 10-rounders, we can help them in their goal of inventory reduction : )
  10. What are your prices on the chokes and barrel elongator (and details on them as well)?
  11. I'm interested in buying one of the 12s. What are they choked to, and are they still available?
