  1. I have the Zhukov hand guards on both of my Saigas. They fit without any modifications. Very easy install.
  2. We've been shooting more pigs than deer.
  3. Disregard. I replied to another thread and somehow it ended up in here.
  4. I also have the Stormwerkz rail on my M85 and I'm very pleased with it. If you can operate a drill you can easily install it. No, it doesn't co-witness but if you use a quality optic you won't have to worry about it. I have a Primary Arms advanced micro dot on mine right now. I like it. PS. I hope to get an M92 to go with my M85 in the near future.
  5. I changed the red dot and flash light mount since I last posted. I put the reflex red dot on a shotgun and put a PA advanced red dot on the M85. I also switched out the light mount to one that I can remove quickly. I moved the Magpul light mount over to a rifle.
  6. Get some contact cement and black leather from a furniture store, and you have something worth leaving on. Great idea.
  7. I put some pipe insulation on my Bonesteel stock until I find something else. May have to try one of those SKS cheek rests.
  8. I ended up with two .223 Saigas. One has an AR mag adapter (which works great) and the other is stock. The stock one Is NIB. I'm Hoping to get the stock one converted in 2015. I'm not an AR guy so my Saigas are my .223 rifles. Being able to use AR mags makes things a whole lot easier. This summer I picked up one of the Yugo M85 pistols and it also uses AR mags.
  9. I know regular AK's have notches in the receiver and that's where the bump on this safety lever would click into. I really don't want to grind notches into my receiver just to use this safety lever. Some of the other Krebs safeties have the bump positioned for Saigas. This safety was advertised that it was for Saigas on the site I purchased it from so I assumed the bump was in the correct position for Saigas. I would rather screw up the safety lever trying to modify it than screw up my receiver.
  10. Looks great. Have you taken it to the range and tested that muzzle brake yet? How well does it work?
  11. Thanks for the tip. It's on the back burner right now but when I get around to it I'll give it a shot.
  12. Instead of modifying the receiver I think I may try modifying the safety lever. Grind the detent bump off and try making a new bump with a punch or something.
  13. I like the way the factory safety detent bump clicks into place, holding the safety lever in place. Using a safety with the detent bump in the wrong place doesn't provide the same thing. It may provide some tension with the bump against the receiver but it isn't the positive retention the original safety has.
  14. I didn't purchase it from the Krebs site. After visiting their site I noticed they don't say it will work on Saiga shotguns and rifles like the site I purchased it says. Poor research on my part.
  15. Being a Lefty I'm always looking for ways to make my Right handed firearms more user friendly. I ordered A Krebs Mark VII ambi safety selector lever. It was advertised for use on Saiga shotguns and rifles. Unfortunately, the detent bump is not at the end of the lever like the factory Saiga bump is. I contacted the seller and asked if I was sent the correct model for a Saiga and they replied back that this is the correct lever for Saiga rifles. I am disappointed the detent bump is not in the correct place and I will not be using this on my Saiga rifle.
  16. Today I went shooting and I took a variety of AR magazines with me to test to see if they would function OK in my M85. On my previous trip one of my metal magazines had a couple failure to feed malfunctions so I wanted to see if any of my other magazines would have any issues. I also took the same magazine that gave me the earlier malfunctions. The magazines I tested were: Tapco 30 round polymer CAA 30 round polymer BCM 30 round metal Surplus USGI 30 round metal (modified for use in an AR180) C Products Defense 30 round metal D&H Industries 30 round metal (the one that previously
  17. I ended up trying a Primary Arms red dot reflex sight. I was looking for something small, compact and affordable. Now I just need to get to a range and sight it in so I can see how I like it. I'm a Lefty and my light mount worked great when using the iron sights. With both eyes open using the red dot the light is kind of in the view of my Right eye. So now I may try another mount or get a Magpul mount for the Left side and just move it to the other side.
  18. I moved my TWS rail over to my other Saiga. I may try replacing the red dot with a scope in the near future.
