  1. Naa I think I'll pass...
  2. I wouldnt alter any mags if it were me. I would of maybe taken off just a little bit of material out of the tight mag well. Maybe get a steel mil-surp mag and grind the well to those specs. And only one of the 3 saiga 7.62x39's didnt have the velcro markings on the right side of the receiver.
  3. Never had a problem with them. I have questions about the spring length but is pretty heavy duty considering. Shot about 2000 rounds between the 2 of them. I had a lot more when you could get them from mississippiauto arms for 9 bucks a pop but Ive been replacing all of my polymers with steel mags. So far my favorite ones are the Yugo bolt hold open 30's (with 10 round blocks in them).
  4. ok thanks. i figured it would be ok just thought i would ask.
  5. Hey guys remember that gas tube I was talking about purchasing a while back and I was complaining about it being too tight. Well it someone how, after shooting about 1000 rounds with it loosened up a bit. It has a tiny bit front to back and up to down but doesnt affect performance in any way. Should I worry about this?
  6. I am very thurough (bad spelling). I shot 500 rounds today didnt get worse. Probobly just wore that way. I call it break in wear.
  7. Ive been wanting to do this same thing. Maybe the gas block too. Just not sure how difficult it would be to accomplish without a drill press.
  8. Maybe try a different grip. I would avoid drilling holes anywhere in the reciever but thats just me.
  9. Fuckin BULLSHIT! Just got back from walmart and their new policy states 3 boxes per customer per day.
  10. Right on, thanks a lot captain hero. I appriciate it.
  11. Yes I do. Try the black jack blue recoil buffer. And if thats the one that split dont let that particular incident detour you from trying another one. Ive had the same one for 6000 rounds and thats 1000 more than the garuntee calls for. I have one in each of my aks.
  12. the chaos quad rail is very nice if you dont want to mess with a bolt on retainer which i also dont have anything against i just wanted to try out the chaos and i love it.
  13. hmm. should i maybe polish the hammer face a little bit or just keep an eye on it? I dont think the steel is soft on the bolt because its not that bad and i dont think its getting any worse. my other saiga bolts have wear too just a little bit differently. i think the angle of the hammer is fine because it hits the firing pin flush and then rests on the end of the bolt at a very slight angle. its wearing to that angle. probobly normal. will put 500 rounds through it tomarrow and if it doesnt get worse il leave it to rest. thanks again captain hero.
  14. Oh I dont know what I was thinking. Not sure about the ultimak. Is the the gas tube rail? I use the dust cover with a risen pictanni rail. Works good.
  15. I use the buffer because without it on all the saigas ive owned helped with the overgassing issue and it has never caused a jam or fail at all. If I dont use it, the carrier hits the trunnion almost every time and I want all of my guns to last a life time..but ya this is my nicest one.
  16. I have about 1000 rounds through it on a tapco g2 trigger group and the stock hammer spring..it doesnt seem like it is getting worse and its not from the bolt hitting the rear trunnion because i use a buffer..i first noticed it at the 500 round mark and was just curious. i know each ak wears differently but my other saigas didnt wear this way..they are all 7.62x39..i wish i could take a picture for you but it wont focus. its not that bad i dont think i just dont wanna have to end up getting a new bolt and re headspace it. Thanks for the help captain hero you always have excellent input. ...
  17. Hey guys I know I will get knocked for this but I wanna ask anyway. So I think my hammer spring is actually too stiff and I think this because my bolt on my other saigas is even where the hammer makes contact but on this particular one it is leaving a small enough dent where the face that contacts the hammer is wearing very slightly uneven. I dont think it will get any worse but I just had to ask. Does this really matter. I tried to take pics but my camera wont focus that close. If you look at the rear end of your bolt where the firing pin is struck I think it should be evenly wore but on mine
  18. i agree with you definatly. I am shooting this weekend and I will take pictures for sure..haha ill probobly blow chunks big time because i will be tryin harder. well see though.
  19. The modified trigger group is for the saiga 12 but will work with an ak. the difference is they take off a little bit of material on the bottom part of the hammer where the axis pin slides through so you can use the bolt hold open..i have used both trigger groups and they both work but if its for a saiga rifle i would use the tapco g2 for the ak-47 (un-modified).
  20. Umm anyone else is gonna slam you for your thread..research is good but heres a freebie..store.carolinashootersupply.com
  21. Hmm..that sucks I thought all walmarts carried the same ammo.
  22. Lets see here, I have the chaos quad rail, caa pistol grip, the mag that is in it is a yugo bolt hold open 10/30, I think the butt stock is a mako shock absorbing, I have a black jack buffer (blue), wolff extra power recoil spring, in all my mags i have the u.s. palm springs but used the steel followers, ak-builder slant brake, the unfortunate bullet button, tapco g2 which i polished to a crisp 2.1 pound pull..thats about it..freaking awsome. Does anybody know if the extra power spring could damage the front trunnion because of the faster and harder return due to the extra tension on the wolff
