  1. Too many people were burned in the last panic - just last year. No hurry to jump into another one.
  2. Yeah, that's right. The shipping costs erase any advantage from lack of sales tax for on-line vendors. It's 100% about raising tax money. The big farce is that the buyer's state gets the sales tax revenue. Why should they? The tax, if any, should go to the state where the business resides, just as if you drove across state line and picked it up yourself. So a crappy state with bad business laws drives their businesses to a neighboring state, and then they get the sales tax revenue? Nonsense!
  3. Lots of confusion. My bet is a local jihadist. As said here the target is wrong for any "right wing" type, and not well known outside the US which makes an international group unlikely. Actually the marathon is not that well known outside the local area, thus my suspicion it is a local or locals. I'm thinking jihadist as they are the one group that simply wants to blow up people to cause terror with no other purpose. Can't think of any logical reason to attack the Marathon unless it's personal, but then why not go after whoever the bomber had a beef with instead of blowing up random people
  4. My EDC is a Glock 30, 45 cal. In my case I went to the range and spent a couple months trying out everything they had. My rule was I would only buy a pistol I had personally tried out and compared to others at the range. I am happy I did as actually shooting them was a real eye opener. The Glock was not at all at the top of the list when I started out but I have been very happy with it. Scary accurate. The XDS was not around yet and I would like to try it at some point. I also found out in the process that I have big hands. Never knew that. A lot of people feel the G30 grip is too chunky to be
  5. Thanks jerry52 for posting that info. Really really interesting. The panic seems to have let up a little bit, but what surprised me is that the level of buying is not letting up. I mean, last week was still the seventh highest EVER for background checks. So the buying is still way up, it's just that the manufacturing and supply is starting to catch up a little with the demand. This is going to be going on for a long long time
  6. I'm hoping to pick up a rifle when things calm down a little. It's tough because no one knows how long the window of opportunity will be open this time. So I am looking around at everybody's web site and seeing what is available and the prices. I seems like there is still some Vepr guns coming in, as well as a trickle of rebuilds from parts kits, Bulgarian etc. What I am wondering is if anyone has heard about any new shipments coming from Izhmash/Saiga anytime soon? Would it be worth waiting a bit to get that option or should I forget about it?
  7. A ton of info here: http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinAmmoID01.htm#Packaging
  8. I've also seen more .40 in stock than 9 or 45. I remember reading that that was the case back in the 09 rush as well. Thinking of picking up a .40 Glock for that reason, or maybe a 10mm with a conversion kit to .40.
  9. Got off my butt today and started contacting my representitives. And joined this site too. Thanks for all the really really valuable info
