  2. Happened to me a couple of times too. I think Dinzag is right about the way the bolt locks up. It would always happen on the first round chambered only. Every subsequent round will fire every time. Also, what I noticed, an FTF would only happen if you don't slam the bolt carrier shut, or let it slam shut by itself. If you kind of ride it with your hand I guess the bolt doesn't lock properly and it results in a light strike. I noticed this one day when me and a buddy of mine went out to shoot it and when he chambered the first round he rode the bolt carrier. Almost looked like he was trying to
  3. Absolutely true, there is no other way to say it in Russian. And the stress in the word "saiga" falls on the second syllable. This comes from a first hand source, my native language is Russian.
  4. I'd say Tapco is almost plug and play. On the single hook version you'll still have to grind down the hump on the hammer where it touches the bolt carrier when cycling to make it work right. Plus, if you want to retain the bolt hold open you'll have to grind a bit off the side of the hammer ( the bolt hold open side ) to be able to put it back in. On double hook you'll do all of the above plus cut a second notch in the trigger hole to match the existing one on one side to clear the second hook on the trigger. All in all it's easier than it sounds. I put a double hook trigger into my x39, so fa
  5. Saiga has a stamped receiver.
  6. Mine had one, I just had to modify it a bit to put a double hook trigger in.
  7. Don't worry, man. I did mine with hand tools, cordless drill and dremel, not even a vise. Came out pretty good, I just posted results of a tryout shoot couple of hours ago. Also, most likely you will already have the trigger hole in the receiver, if you get a single hook G2 trigger instead of a double hook, you won't even need to modify the trigger hole. You will need to cut out the pistol grip nut hole though. Easily done with a carbide scribe and a dremel equipped with a cutting wheel. To me the hardest part of the whole thing was drilling through the spotweld by the trigger guard when remov
  8. I finished my conversion a while back but couldn't spare a minute for any range time. Quickly tested the rifle with about 20 rounds right after the conversion was done but I had a little mishap with the muzzle brake flying downrange on the first shot. Got all that squared away, thanks to Dinzag, great doing business with him, just so happened I had had a wrong type of set screws holding the muzzle brake on. Anyway, went through 320 rounds of Wolf Military Classic ammunition Saturday without as much as a single hiccup, grouping was excellent, the overall performance of the rifle just great. The
  9. Let me tell you, that's one sweet combination, love those guns.
  10. G19 here, just can't go wrong with glocks, thinking of picking up a 21SF next. Regular G21 is just a tad too big in the grip for me, handled the 21SF at a local gun shop, seems to be just another glock perfection.
  11. No, that's not the case. Saiga does not have the last round bolt hold open. There are magazines for it with followers designed to do that but other than that Saiga's bolt hold open is manual. It's great to have for when a rangemaster needs to inspect the chamber on the weapon.
  12. on the same note, has anyone ever tried installing this stock on a saiga? http://www.rusmilitary.com/images/skeleton...stock%20(1).jpg
  13. anyone's got a clue as to whether this setup from rusmilitary would fit a 7.62x39, given i use a proper retainer? i'm mostly concerned about the length of the gas tube. http://www.rusmilitary.com/images/ak74m_handguards.jpg
  14. well,it goes back in exactly the same way it was originally installed, the only modification you have to do is file down one side of your new hammer so it fits in. it's quite a pain to put it back in though. took me good 50 tries or so, the spring kept sliding off the little notch it sits on. you'll need a whole lot of patience on this one. the only two other things that gave the same amount of frustration in the conversion process were drilling through the spotweld on the bottom of the receiver and reinstalling the mag catch lever. i messed mine up when filing it down and had to go with the o
