  1. The Romak3 has had numerous failures firing a heavy bullet, according to ONE gunsmith I have heard from. Supposedly anything over 150gr is a no no. I wouldn't worry too much about it with a Saiga.
  2. The GN 3.8 is turbo and the engine is going in longitudinal. SBC kits are everywhere for these cars and I want something different. It won't even really be a fiero when its done- entirely different interior, long ways engine, Ferrari F355 front clip (I love the kit car industry), Tubular front suspension/custom coilover rear setup, 7" longer and 4" wider, its gonna be mean!
  3. Clearview investments or Centerfire systems. Less than ten foreign parts works out to 6 US parts on an SKS. Put a cool US made muzzle brake, US gas piston, a US stock and US magazine and you should be covered. Tapco has the gas pistons and op rods.
  4. My .308 does not dent, but my .223 nearly creases them closed. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...requestid=35580 http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ctd/product.asp?sku=AMM-690 put this item number in at Sportsmens guide WX2-84063
  5. How bout a 3.8 from a Buick GN in a Pontiac Fiero with a Porsche transaxle? That's some doin'. Why? Well, why not??? Stretch the frame 7", mod the subframe and bolt it in. Sucks my new house doesn't have a garage that I can work in so THAT project has been on hold for a while. This pretty much happened with my Saigas. My .223 is now an AK101, and my S.308 now is setup as a lo-buck Romak3. I can't leave well enough alone. I don't care for actually using hicaps much anymore and have no interest in a high cap .308. The 8 round has never been loaded with more than 5 anyway, and I use the 5 rou

It can be done. I don't have firsthand experience, but I've heard that they have a front trunion thats compatible with the Bulgarian barrels that Kvar has. The SAR3s were reported built with Bulgie barrels, too. You could build a 5.45 or a .556 AK from it.
  7. I shoot the Winchester 55gr that comes in the 40rd boxes at walmart, and it works very well from my Saiga. Seven something a box so its like 3.75/20.
  8. I'll try to get back on topic now.... 49hudson, I have a suspicion you're a left handed shooter. How's the 7.62x39 accuracy wise? C'mon, lets see more group pics!!!
  9. heres a cool link about the accuracy of the Romak3 vs an SVD from someone who knows first hand. http://www.dragunov.net/finn.htm
  10. I have shot out to 750m with my Romak and hit the 55 gal drum we were shooting at at least 90% of the time. Not all AKs are accurate, but I get MOA+- with Czech silvertip from my Romak (thats 40 year old ammo!!!) and 2MOA is average for my .308 Saiga. My .223 Saiga will hit an 8" target at 200m EVERY time when I do my part and the NHM91 will hit a fat guy at 30 paces...Maybe. Most of my shooting takes place at 200m, and my Freak SAR1 does awesome. Freak because fit and finish are perfect and accuracy is in the 1moa range with Barnul 123gr HP and a cheap 3x9. The stock on my Romak is
  11. When I put the bulgarian FSB on my rifle the first time It was canted. I had to put the front sight pin all the way to the right to get it to shoot straight. It wasn't bad, but I figured I could get it better with a little fanagling. So I marked the base and drifted the pins out and redrilled it a little straighter. Thinking it was good I took it out today. After four groups of three I had it sighted in with the sight pin more or less in the center of the sight base. Everything was going great until 28 rounds later, the entire sight base and muzzle brake ended up 20m down the range. Someho
  12. The .223 at the morgantown store should have went home with my cousin on sunday afternoon....hope you were wanting the .410!!! He shot mine Sunday morning and thats all it took.
  13. Barrel needs to be turned down, and any sight/scope rail mounted to the dust cover is crap. The gas block front sight is good quality and works well.
  14. West Virginia has no mag laws. We may be over regulated on most everything else, but not when it comes to guns. Where you at? I'm in Morgantown.
  15. modification would be required because the .308 barrel is a lot thicker than the others.
  16. A good over the bore mount is the one from Clearview investments. I have one on my S20 with a red dot and its great, though its not a quick release.
  17. They are identical physically and my Saiga seems to like the Lake City M855 very much.
  18. Wolf 150gr- so far the only thing I've tried that consistantly groups. I thought it was pretty strange too. My .223 Saiga on the other hand, does better with brass cased surplus/ Winchester commercial than it does with Wolf or Barnul.
  19. I ordered some M855 and some M80 ball from Sportsmans guide. My Saiga doesn't seem to like anything with a brass caseI've tried so far, but there's a Savage 110 LF .308 in my future that will.
  20. It would be possible, but gas block modification would be necessary, or even a new gas block all together.
  21. Being a left hander I tend so shy away from them.
  22. check to see if the bolt carrier is out of track before hitting it with anything!
  23. Went again today with More Wolf, more Aussie and some portugese I got. Very strange results. I tried the Portugese first and was disappointing. 5 Shot group 3.5", Aussie did 3.25". I put it away and fired some other rifles, then came back and tried Wolf. 1.5" 5 shot group! Loaded another 5 and same thing! Reloaded with Portugese and again 4" group, while Aussie got 3" the second time. I shot a total of 40 rds of wolf and never any bigger than 2.5". My rifle apparently likes the lacquer cased wolf better than the brass cased surplus! On a side note, I mangled a portugese round so I stuck it
