  1. I need one old fcg, the togel part of the fcg from your conversion. let me know thanks muttman2
  2. Does this prevent reloading the brass? nope.. It is called positive ejection, looks bad, but you can still reload it. I have reloaded 1000s of dented cases. The only gun I have had I couldn't reload for was a MG-42. It destroyed brass by smashing the case mouth flat and ripping the case rim half off. when you reload what is to mutch of a dent to reload. Im working on getting set up to reload but have no clue as to what is and what is not reloadable brass. thanks muttman2
  3. I tried my adapter on my SAR 1(I don't have a SAR 3) and it would fit it the same as the Saiga. I don't think there would be a difference in the receiver layout between the two. The parts will be different for the caliber difference, but the layout should be the same. there is a diffrence is the mag well on a 7.62 to a 5.45/5.56. the 7.62 mag well is wider and the 5.45/5.56 is thiner and a hair longer. muttman2
  4. first try the punch and hammer. this might not work to well. it is best to hit the tap on the start side (non blind hole). next there is a tool for removing broken 4 flue taps and they are low $$ compaired to getting a tap removed. do not redrill youll just break the drill bit or end mill. taps are in the H- tool steel range drill bits are soft. if all this fails take it (call first to get a OK !!! ,give me 3 steeps comes to mind) machine shop or smith. get a drill press and use a tap handel like this one http://www.mcmaster.com/#tap-handles/=qsbn9 it chuck's up in the drill pr
  5. yes it will. it will need to be reheadspaced, and new barrel pin (over sized) driled. muttman
  6. it is a PSL. the ammo issue is common to the PSL. assy. in the US. muttman
  7. you are corect. ( I work in the AL. ind. ) it can be made from AL. but would need to be a milled reciver that was over sized in the trunion for the steel bolt locking lugs. ther were FAL recivers made from AL. but they would fail at the locking sholder hole (headspacing). there are some AL. FAL's recivers that are 7.62x39 out there that are fine but a FAL is a diffrent beast. muttman
  8. ok I the home brew mag adapto. but I did not see the mag release? all I need to do now is get of my A$$ and make one. muttman
  9. Is the safety lever suppose to be resting on top of the spring or the rear of the FCG? the safty lever should not touch the return spring only the right leg of the triger. you might need to file that part of the safty lever to fit. just rember to check often. muttman
  10. and just when you thought you might need to wate on a 5.45, s&w is now make a 5.45 AR. muttman2
  11. lonz, you are correct. I eye balled my tap and die and they were 1.25 pitch. muttman2
  12. Only 223 AK barrel for sale in the US is Bulgarian and it is over $100,requires the chamber section to be machined to the Saiga's AK74 trunnion diameter and is in finite supply. You might find a 223 Saiga barrel that has been removed during a 5.45x39 caliber conversion but it's a rare bird anyway. If you want a spare barrel you had better have one in hand before you need it.I have a 223 Saiga barrel from a conversion and I wouldn't take less than $200 for it which is 1/2 the price of the rifle, get the picture? now that's funny k-var and copes has them for $100. and getting the 23mm bulga
