  1. Just to make sure everyone realizes that the gun had just got out of my garage: The hiccup is from me getting some matte textured "paint" on spots where I shouldn't have, which significantly reduced the velocity of the bolt. After converting the gun, I realized that the action was a lot rougher than it used to be. If you look at the first few shells ejected (especially the first), they aren't thrown as far as the rest. I didn't cycle the gun completely, because I saw the old shell had been ejected, and the bolt had ahold of a live round. The drum did its job (feeding the round (#4
  2. Let's see your MD20's in action! I finished my conversion two days after my drum came in! There was some Molyresin overspray that caused the bolt to not go into battery. The drum is the first mag that I ran through the gun after the conversion.
  3. How do we specify that we want the smoke cover?
  4. Tony himself has said that the Shark Brake was designed for looks, not for function. I don't know what Jeaux's problem is. The physics is simple. Holes are deliberately placed such that exiting gas pushes the muzzle down.
  5. "Views: 1,864,318" I'd guess most people here have seen it already. The heft of the gun aids controllability.
  6. The principle that makes this feat of engineering work is known simply as "Black Magic."
  7. Cobra, that's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks bud. Dumb question #2: When I screw in my AR15-style assstock into the ACE folding stock mechanism, which is connected to an ACE external reciever block, the stock doesn't line up right (rotated 45 degrees). There needs to be a way to stop how far the stock screws into the gun. I guess there's some sort of nut or spacer that I'm missing?
  8. Yes, I have searched, read everything many times. I've never done any sort of work like this, and I'm hesitant. I'm on step three of the cross-con site for rifles. I have the insides gutted, and now need to remove the trigger guard and plate. The guide here says to not remove the red rivet, and this is different from their guide (I know it's for rifles). I should cut across the green line, leave the red rivet untouched, and drill a new hole somewhere close to the green dot for the front of the trigger guard. I think I can finish it up the rest after this. Or is there some oth
  9. Purpose of the gun is home defense... and a little bit of a toy. What I plan on ordering: -Stock: Ace M4 Six-Position or probably a SOCOM setup to fold. -FCG: Tapco G2 Single hook -Pistol Grip: Tapco SAW -PG bolt and nut: Nut , and the bolt comes with the Tapco SAW PG, right? -HG: Tri-rail guy from dinzag -Vertical Grip: UTG Deluxe Vertical Foregrip -Barrel rail for the light mount: here -Light: Surefire G2, or a ~$35 LED 1 or 3/4" light, suggestions? -Light Mount: this guy -Retaining plate: Shepherd's Crook Replacement -Recoil Buffer: Black Jack Buffer -Sights: something ch

Thanks for the advice about the muzzle attachment and handguard. I'd like a Shark brake, but it's too expensive for me if it doesn't count. I'm glad to hear more good things about Ace, but I'd still like to at least hear something from someone who's used one. I'm really kind of over extending myself financially (need to buy a new laptop for school) adding the goodies to the gun, but I just moved into a new place and want a good HD weapon. If I drop $150 on a grip/folder, I wanna make sure its gonna work. Has ANYONE out there used one of these guys? -Brandon

Strapping one of these stocks on is a lot less work / cash than converting, but I haven't been able to find any reviews of them. Anyone out there have experience with one? Thanks Cobra for the lead. Mike - PM sent.

Holy shit Mike. I'm in Dayton too. How about I just stop by your place or shop sometime?
  14. I have a stock 19" gun. I love it. Now it's time to embrace it. I am new to long guns. I've owned several handguns (HK P2000 9mm, Mark23, P2000sk .40, Glock 30, Kel-tec P3-AT (.380), S&W J-frame), but this is my first long gun. The purpose of the gun is HD and fun. I'm trying to keep things cheap, and it must be legal. I'm planning on doing a quick and dirty write-up on 922r compliance for here once I have this sorted out, because it's not as easy to find the information as I expected. I'm planning on ordering: 1) An AGP mag 2) A saiga-specific pistol-grip-and-folder-in-
