  1. Thanks! I recently did a tutorial on a low tech AK-100 trunnion install... check it out! http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/76043-ak-105-conversion/ Failing that, send it to me and I'll take care of you!
  2. I thought this was too cool... just had to share. I was very surprised to see just how much of these firearms are hand assembled. http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=ru&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fvsirin.livejournal.com%2F23596.html

    Factory LRBHO

The LRBHO feature on my 030 works 100%. Their solution is actually very simple and makes disassembly of the receiver much easier than the older 109's. Kind of makes you wonder why they didn't make all S-12's like this from the beginning...
  5. This really bothers me as I could easily have been among the guys in limbo. I was ready to order two 030's from Brian last fall. The only reason I didn't is because after I asked, he never actually sent me an order form. I figured if he didn't want my order bad enough to follow through and send me the order form, I'd be better served taking my business elsewhere. That's the only reason I'm not screaming right along with you guys. I really really really hope he comes through in some way.
  6. Lol, Go big or go home, right? Oleg wrote me back and said that only the first batch of mag wells lacked the hardware. So, now I wait.
  7. I can give you one if it does'nt....no worries Thanks, Ray. That helps me breathe easier.
  8. I went ahead and pre-ordered two from Oleg. They better come with hardware! The rear pin is not hard to replicate, but the front "T-bolt" is not something I can just pick up at Ace Hardware.
  9. I wrote Oleg to see if he is accepting preorders. Haven't heard back. The real kicker will be whether or not they come with the front and rear mounting hardware.
  10. Now that Legion is selling the factory 8's, I'm thinking of converting all my S-12's to run the factory 8 round magwell mags. To me, the achilles heel of the S-12 has always been the mishmash of mag interchangeability. Right now, I've got a 030 that takes the magwell mags... a IZ-109 with a Surefire magwell and a Tromix S-17 that takes rock and lock mags. I'm tired of investing in no less than three types of mags for the shotties and dream of them all running the same type of mags. Aside from RusMilitary (who is out) does anyone know of another source for these bad boys? Also, for an
  11. If by compatible you mean which one will fit - any AK sight leaf should do. But, you really need a Russian AK74 sight leaf to keep the Gods happy. This one is calibrated for 5.45 and will work find on your IZ240. Like this one: http://www.russiansurplus.net/product_p/ak-74-r-sight.htm
  12. What's the deal with the mag well mags? I'm hurting my fingers hitting refresh on Legions website hoping they will show up.
  13. I got mine from Legion and it didn't have night sights... Anyway, glad to see the price coming down!
  14. Maybe not! Seriously wouldnt any ak type rail hand guard fit?? Not necessarily. The S-12 barrel is much larger in diameter than the rifle. It will take some trial and error to find one that would work.
  15. Thanks guys! I used matte Duracoat and the brake is from MD Arms. I don't remember the poundage, but the recoil spring is from a Kimber 1911 I used to own. ....Oh, and the gas tube lever is real tight on this gun so I'm giving the Duracoat time to cure before I latch it. I've put 100 rounds through it and it hasn't come loose though.
  16. Got the 030 clone blasted, parked and topcoated today. It cycles Federal bulk pack ammo with a reduced power recoil spring and no other modifications.
  17. I'm looking for a rear trunnion for a PKM. Id be happy to pay a finder's fee to anyone who can help me locate one. Shy of that, I'll just make my own. There are some pretty good photos on pookieweb, but nothing beats exact measurements. If you have a kit in a box please PM/email me. I'd like to get some critical dimensions to make my own replica. TIA!
  18. Every time you put a rail on a Saiga, god kills a kitten. Seriously, the 030 already has a top rail.
  19. Thanks bro! By the way... I have solved the issue of how to remove the gas puck/tappet without a separate tool. Those sneeky Russians....
  20. Lol, like Ray said... There's a hole in the puck with a shoulder you can grab to pull it out.
  21. Shoot it with the gas tube removed?
  22. For 922r, I got around it by using a floorplate from this guy: http://www.boomsticksforever.com/fplates.html I also took a follower from a SGM 8 round mag and installed it in the Vepr 8 round mag. It cycles just fine but the LRBHO does not function. This is a temporary work around for me until someone starts selling tappets/pucks. God, I love jumping through hoops for silly laws.
  23. That thing was $100 though. No rear sight leaf is worth that much. I'm sure one will come up for cheaper. Even if it is a 500m. Is it really that much better than any other site, like will it make you more accurate? I understand the authenticity part of it but really that's alot of money for a sight. I just bought a Russian rpk sight with windage adjustments on it for $50. That's funny though how much we spend on rare item. It's worth it if it's the last part you need to finish an AK-105 clone.
  24. Dude... if you did that with a dremel tool, I officially give my tip of the hat to you. Wow. Heat treat it!
